Finally got new exhaust! Question on pipe dia.

I got a magnaflow si/so installed today. It's turned out in front of the rear tire. I didn't get any tips, it's just exhaust pipe for now. I'm not concerned w/bling at this present time. However, I thought it was going to be 2.5 in pipe, but turned out to be 2.25. My question is, is there and diff. in sound quality between the 2 sizes? If not, no big deal, as I'm planning on getting a nice tip put on later on down the road. I'll have to cut the pipe to put on the tip.

Tips add sound. Bigger pipes have a bit of a deeper sound to them. They make it sound like the engine sound a little different at idle too. Other than that, there isnt a big difference.

Larger volume of air and as little bends as possible will make the tone deeper and louder. Also, the wall thickness of the tubing will make it more or less raspy. (thinner = more)

Thanks for the insight. It's just w/ the 2.25 pipe, it looks more stock than if it were 2.5. Stock is only .25 smaller.
