CB Radios?

I see a lot of people locally and on the forum with CB radios installed. I don't really know anything about them and have never used one. So what I want to know is what is the advantage of putting a CB radio in your truck?

On Bullrun one of the guys installed 2 of the big Cobras into his car and was saying something about picking up police channels but he had to connect it to his laptop and download some stuff to it first. Do you guys pick up police channels?

Be careful, some places its illegal to run one if you aren't a emergency vehicle.
