Power Accessories Wiring harness

Anyone have any tips on getting this sucker out? It's the harness that has the power windows, locks, and mirrors and such. Thanks in advance!

It just plugs in to the various door componnents and clips in place. Once the door panel is unscrewed and the dust membrane is peeled off, it is easy to see what to do. I would pop the accordion boots free and leave them on the harness.

The only real hassle is getting to the plug where the door harness plugs to the dash harness on the driver side. It is buried under the end of the dash and the parking brake assembly. I don't think its possible to remove or even disconnect the plug without unbolding the P-brake assembly.

Thanks Bob I tried to get my hand back there and I could feel where it all plugged in but had no chance of unplugging it. Those buggers are stuck hard! I pulled out the parking break so maybe once i pull the accordian boots i'll be able to get at it easier.

Haha it's not a problem Andy! I couldn't do much today because I was finishing up stripping the interior. My uncle and I have to clean out his garage so we can bring the truck in there to start taking off axles/suspension/etc. because jackstands are not safe on soft dirt where the truck is parked right now, lol. I won't be able to go down there for a few weeks because of random this's and thats, but I'll let you know when I'm down there next!

Bob, do you know by any chance if the dash harness is the same for all trucks? Or is there more wiring that I need to get for this to work on a non-power equipment Ranger? Please tell me the dash harness is the same! What a royal pain trying to get that sucker out! haha

No, I don't know. The 4-cylinder trucks have major differences in option availability so I guess it's POSSIBLE that they would have a unique harness. My GUESS is that the V6 trucks, at least, would all be the same.

To be sure, have the buyer pull the PS kick panel and look for an unused 16-pin connector coming from the dash harness. If he has that, his harness is probably fully prepped for the Power Equipment Group.

Don't forget that the PEG also needs the following:

Central Security Module (white box, remove the PS airbag to access)
Aux Relay box #1 (under dash, to the right of the steering column)
GEModule (radio cavity) -might need this, don't know.
Exterior mirrors (I know yours are probably wasted)
Lock actuators
Power window motors
Door panels with switches

Yeah the mirrors are toast, if he wants those he can buy some from Ford. Maybe get the snazzy 06 ones. I've got the last 3 pieces there, I will get the other ones when I go back for the cruise control and such. What is the GEModule? And how will I know what the Aux. Relay box #1 looks like? the truck they're going to has a V6 so hopefully they're the same.

The GEM is a black box with two connectors (black and gray?) in the radio cavity on the left side.

IIRC, Aux Relay Box #1 is maybe 6" x 1.5" x1.5", black I think. It's the only thing like that under the dash to the right of the steering column.

The CSM is usually white plastic with two connectors, 22-pin and 26-pin, I think. It's held on by a screw or two and you have to pull the pass side airbag to get to it.
