Rear brake adjusting

Rear brake adjusting
I'm needing to adjust my rear brake shoes on 2005 XLT,...through the brake adjusting access hole,..with an adjusting spoon,...is "down" to adjust "out",...or "in"? There's a reason cause my left rear keeps self adjusting out, which causes to drag. I did a rear brake shoe replace, and assembled all back together, but started to drag my left rear. I've already pulled the drum off to inspect,...but nothing different from the right side. All thanks in advance.

Chk for broken springs both the ones across the springs and the ones that hold the shoes on.
The wise idea would be to take the whole thing apart, clean it up and if needed replace any of the parts that appear worn.
How are your brake shoes, maybe a good time for a full brake job.
While it is apart look at the drums, if there are groves and you decide to go with new shoes think about having the drum turned or replaced.

Didn’t read all of the post… all the other stuff still holds.
If you only replaced the Shoes then that is the problem.
Pull the drum, chk for loose, broken or worn out parts, especially the springs and clips.
Remove the adjusters, clean them inside and out, wire brush the threads, put some grease on the threads, not too much, keep it inside the female threaded side.
Run the threaded a few times and put it all back together.
Make sure all of the clips and the Rotator Lock should be tight against the adjusting wheel.
