My 97 4 cyl Ranger has 3 metal boxes on the core support. 2 are in front (about 2X2X3)
and one behind - slightly larger and on the pass side. All feed into the wiring harness. What are they?

I believe you are talking about the airbag crash sensors ( the two small boxes).
