Probably a stupid question...
When I am driving in the dunes (sand) I don't like the way my truck shifts. Many times I want to keep the RPMs up but the truck will upshift. I know this is just an automatic being an automatic.
My question, is there anything dangerous about just shifting between first and second manually? Is this ok to do this under power?

Shifting an automatic between first and second should not do any harm to your transmission. You do need to make sure you do not over-rev the engine when shifting down. I think automatic transmissions today are controlled so as not to let the engine over-rev in a down shift. Just be on the safe side and watch your rpm and speed.

hopefully you don't shift as you hit a bump and end up in reverse or park haha. at least it'll be in sand with less friction if it happens

yep im sure you already know the shift points from having your truck for a while. I knew where all of mine were so if i ever floored it messing around, I'd let off and reapply the throttle when I knew it was going to shift lol.
