Considering my trucks been in my family for 12 years ( since April 25, 1995).
Owned originally by my step grandparents for 3 years before the sold the truck to my stepfather, and then they bought a 98 4.0 owned that truck for 7 years before selling it to my stepfather again, so in the end my dad (as I call him now) actually had two Rangers, during the Summer of 2004, I asked him about it and he was going to sell it for 2200 but they decided in the end that I could own it,since my old car a 1992 Honda Accord (also a hand me down but not without the one long month it took me to replace that motor during high school) was falling apart.
I got this one as a Christmas gift.
In only 12 years it racked 172k on the chassis.

My dad paid for my truck. It was my first vehicle and I had little money at the time. I had been looking at '77 GMC Camper Special pickup that had been to hell and back and was really rough. It needed a lot of work, but I could afford it ($20 for the truck, $100 to get it running, $1000 to make it decent). My dad wanted me to get something newer with low miles, air bags, ABS, and in good mechanical condition. The natural choice was a Ranger since we had only had good experieneces with them, so I got my current truck.
BTW - the GMC ended up at the metal recycler. It was so bad it skipped the junkyard and was sent to be melted down.

Financed through Ford. First truck I have ever owned. I had two Chrysler "cloud" cars before - a 1996 Plymouth Breeze and a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus. Good cars. Cheap on gas and cheap insurance, but I got tired of driving a car in 2005(when my Cirrus was finally paid off). After waiting for two years, moving up two pay steps at work, getting a 7% raise through the union, and working another job on the side I went looking for a truck. I was looking at a used Dodge 3/4 ton Cummins, but the interest rate was too high. Got a Ranger instead at 0% and I haven't looked back. I love it.
Cheers,
D.
