If I have at least 300lbs in the back it's a lil better. But not much better. My other cars are waaaay better in terms of ride quality but hey it's a truck.

Mine rides like ****, though my rear leaf springs are probably worn out. When I go over a bump the tire will get kicked up. The front end rides like **** as well, but what can you expect from a TB suspension. Maybe down the road I'll look into coil overs, but some new shocks will be coming soon hopefully.

I might try that, but my problem isn't little bumps. The roads are terrible here and it throws you from side to side inside the cab.

The door sticker says 30, so that's what I have on mine.

Isn't it lower tire pressure bad for the tires and mpg? Just asking...

My '92, 2 wd 4 cyl. rides very rough. Not road worthy regarding bumps & stuff. It is better when I've got a couple hundred pound in the back like when I come from HD with concrete, lumber etc. But I'm not complaining because it is a truck afterall.

On the positive side, my wife feels it's too rough and hence she typically doesn't want to go with me. That's good because I spend less time without her looking for things for me to do. Also spend less $$$.

yeah, it'd decrease your mpg. supposedly, running under inflated tires on the highways is what destroyed the firestones on the explorers years ago.

I think I run 35 pounds in mine.

running under inflated tires will wear any tire on any car out faster. not just firestones on exploders. I hate how the media pins people like that.

"Explorers are bad because the tires explode" has nothing to do with the car being bad... just the idiot driver not having enough PSI in them.

/end rant

I'm not saying firestones and explorers are bad...I'm saying that's the condition that led to the incident.

I've always heard that if you are 5 psi under the max limit you should be fine. Any lower than that you are just ruining your tires & MPG.

running lower psi than the factory recomended rating is just getting you poor gas mileage and premature tire wear. sure it may give you a slightly better ride too but if youre like me and dont like replacing youre tires every year just upgrade to a better shock. with my set up i found that 40 psi in the front and 32-35 in the rear gets me the best tire wear and mileage and i just let the bilsteins do there job with the ride.

I started this thread so I want to thank everyone for their posts and comments. So from them, I guess my Ranger has the "normal Ranger ride"...a little rough and bumpy'. A few years back, before I retired, the company I worked for provided me with a small pick-up whose model ended with the number "10". If I remember right it rode a lot better than my Ranger. When I first got the Ranger, that is all I could compare it to. Thanks again guys.

X2... If you want a cadillac ride, buy a damn caddy. you buy a pickup for the utility factor, not for ride quality. geez!!

Or actually, buy a new 2010 F150. They ride better than Cadillacs'.
