I may buy 4.10s

I have the stock gears on my truck still and was thinking of buying 4.10s. Now i dont know anything about them except for the fact that there is a power gain. Will I lose mileage or gain? What kind of gears should I look at buying?

I think you mean 3.73s, the improvement will from a stand-still and fuel economy at lower speeds and accelerating. I swapped a 05' Ranger 8.8" with 4:10s into my truck (3.0L auto) and I have severe traction issues even with a refreshed LSD. Just a heads up, ohh and higher gearing (3.73s or 3.55s) are better for keeping low RPM and better highway fuel economy and top speed with lower revs.

Ok so say IF you have 3.73s, switching to 4.10s will give you better acceleration and more power pushing your 32" tires. At freeway speeds you will loose some MPG mileage but the trade-off is well worth it.

To my knowledge tho all 01-05 Edges & 06+ sport 3.0s came with 4.10s.. i couldnt even imagine how damn slow my truck would be if it had 3.73s... its already crazy slow

fyi, I will have stock 4.10s and 28 spline l/s (very good traction still) for sale soon.

4.10s will make your 3.0 with 32's much better for in city driving.

Hm...I'm currently getting 1-2 mpg better gas mileage in city and about another 1 mpg for highway with my 4.0 OHV with 4.10 gears and 33's. Dunno with the SOHC though...

+1. Better acceleration since your engine is not bogging down and better mpg in city, to say the least. I got better mpg than stock, but I also lost my top speed by about 9 miles.

Either way, well worth the buy and you won't regret it.
