How Many Rangers ?
#51
I've owned two so far. My first Ranger is the one I still own and use as a DD. It's a 1995 2.3L automatic with just over 250,000 miles. Only parts I've replaced so far are the water pump, EGR valve and heater control valve. Engine and tranny are 100% original. Still waiting for it to die or start burning oil before I decide on a replacement.
Second was a 1998 2WD Mazda B2500. Biggest piece of garbage I've ever owned. Why Ford dropped the 2.3 in favor of the 2.5 (worst 4 cyl engine ever made IMO) is beyond me. It got 17 mpg compared to 23-24 in the 2.3 Ranger and didn't really offer any more power. Paid it off and sold it in just under two months. Worst $7,000 I ever spent.

2000 Ford Ranger 2.5L Manual
My one and probably only Ranger ever. Unless they make another Ranger in like 2015 or I get a ridiculously good deal on a low mileage 02-04 FX4 Level II Twin Stick.
I plan on keeping this one forever. It's not worth anything so I might as well keep it. Maybe someday in like 10 years when I have a new car and this one is just rusting out I will make it a project car. D44 SAS and a 5.0 or maybe a 351W :) Who knows. Anything is possible.

My first was a bright red 2007 Sport 4x4 with a 4.0 and an automatic. It was a nice little truck, but the mileage sucked. I traded for an F150 FX4...same mileage, more power, better ride, etc.
I just bought a new daily driver: bright red 2003 XL 2.3L manual transmission. I love it! It gets 30 mpg and I can still haul some stuff. The F150 tows the boat or camper while the Ranger gets me around every day...what could be better?

This is my 5th-all purchased new-all ordered just the way I wanted them:
1) 1990 STX 4x4 Regular Cab-Red w/Grey Sport interior-2.9L V6/5-speed Manual
Unfortunately(or fortunately) this truck was "Lemon Lawed" so I got:
2) 1991 XLT 4x4 Regular Cab-Black w/Grey Sport interior-4.0L V6/5-speed Manual
This is the truck that I really wanted in '90, but at the time the 4.0/5-speed wasn't available
3) 1993 XLT 4x4 Regular Cab-Black w/Grey Sport interior-4.0L V6/5-speed Manual
This truck was identical to the '91 only in the newer body style
Vanity plate on this truck was "Deja Vu"
Lifted with longer coils in front and threw on some 31-10.50 BFG ATs
4) 2000 XLT 4x4 Off Road SuperCab-DSG w/Grey Sport interior-4.0L V6/5-speed Manual
This truck was the first that I did any real mods on
245/65R16 BFG ATs, Hurst shifter, BBK TB, Ganatelli MAF, S&B Intake
5) And my '04-By far the nicest-XLT 4x4 Supercab-Black w/Grey Leather interior
4.0 SOHC/5-speed Auto--See sig below for mods

I've had:
A '94 repo Ranger I bought in '95 right after I graduated HS. It was a regular cab/long bed 2wd 2.3/5-speed XLT in dark toreador red with the porno red interior. Can't find a pic but I do remember that with a headwind and the A/C on it would need to run in 4th gear to keep up speed on the highway...lol. Traded it in on the '98
The first new vehicle I ever purchased was a '98 regular cab/short bed 2wd XLT in deep emerald green with grey interior. 3.0/5-speed. Cant find a pic of it either. Traded it in on the '03
I bought a new '03 Supercab 2wd XLT in Arizona Beige. Loaded, 4.0 Auto. It started like this:
and ended up like this. Gibson exhaust, SCT tuner, Bronco II rear sway bar, K&N intake, lowered 2/3 with DJM stuff, 17" Mustang Bullit replicas, Kuhmo 255/50/17 tires, Explorer OHC, power leather seats, dome light, auto-dimming mirror, line-x, Extang bed cover, billit grille, 4x4 front bumper/fog light conversion, '07 taili-lights, clear corners:
Traded it in on an '07 F150 FX2.
My current truck is an '03 Supercab XLT/FX4 4x4 4.0/Auto that I bought mainly just as a weekend ride since during the week I am usually in my work provided vehicle and I missed having a truck for home duties since we sold the F150 in '08 since I thought we didn't need a truck anymore (Doh!). This Ranger only has 58,000 miles and the price was right so now it resides in my garage. I still have the factory bucket seats out of the other '03 wrapped in plastic up in the garage attic. If only I could find a center console like the other '03 had I would swap them into this one:

1989 Ranger GT 2-tone 2.9/Standard (Sandalwood/Dark Chestnut)? - Good truck/didn't like leaky 2.9 valve cover gaskets.
1995 Ranger Splash 4.0/Auto (Black) - Only owned it for 2 days...
2008 XLT 2.3/Auto (Vista Blue) - Boring, but still my favorite truck by far. And that includes the 3 F150's I've owned.
