Hi there! I got a 03 Ranger 4.0. Im dealing with the symptoms of air in my clutch lines. When i try to move my truck, she doesn't want to go in to first gear from a stop. I went ahead and bleed the clutch somewhat, tried a few methods i've read online such as using a syringe to push fluid through the clutch cylinders with the bleeding screw open a bit.

After I tried bleeding the clutch, the truck was shifting perfectly! I was very happy! in less then 5 minutes the clutch was perfect. Anywho, I took the truck out for a drive that day and later on it started acting up again as if more air got caught in the lines. My question is, could there be a reason why I am getting more air back in? As well what else could have happened after I've bled the clutch to make it stop working as well shortly after.
I know the truck has a new reservoir on it, new house down to the master cylinder and a new master cylinder installed by the previous owner. So could it be sucking air in from the slave end?

Thanks for the link! I went ahead and bled my clutch just then by bench bleeding it like the video. Luckily it all went smoothly. I think theres air in my slave cylinder, is there any way to bleed the slave effectively? I know in the video it mentions just gravity bleed it.

After bleeding the master side, I dead headed the master side ( disconnected the QD from the slave. I tried to push the pedal to the floor and there was zero play in the pedal! very happy. However I can tell theres some air still trapped in the slave. After reassembly I tried to move the truck, its behaving better but still not as good as any other standard i've owned. Still doesn't like first gear that easy

 

Is the slave new?

If no. On the trans bell housing there is an rubber inspection cover. Pull the cover and check for leaks. Sounds like the slave is starting to go out on you. Somewhat common on these trucks.
