Any comments on Ford stock going up today on the news of the loss? It's only 2 or 3 cents a share increase, but still. I guess the market thinks the job buyouts which caused a lot of the losses is looked at in a positive note?

i am sorry, i love my ranger, but i love my civic too. my next truck will be a toyota.
this ranger will probably be my last american brand car. once you go foreign, most people dont go back. i wanted a toyota pickup for the winter, but had to settle for my ranger due to toyota trucks with 200,000 miles on them being worth more then i paid for my ford fwith 160,000 on her. GM is totally out of the question for me.
Like i said, i love my ranger, but you cant beat honda and toyota quality.

I'm just glad our Firearms MFGR's are still made here, at least we can defend ourselves with something MADE HERE! Then again, Winchester was looking to move to japan a while back too :(

The two physical latches holding the tailgate closed was plastic. The gate popped open while driving pretty often.
The brakes simply did not work on occasion in the rain. I ran through at least two insersections from memory. It wasn't a matter of locking the brakes and sliding, they didn't lock at all. I just kept going.
The center console was a pretty rigid vinyl/plastic. It cracked within weeks.
This isn't 1970's. probably 1999 or 2000. relativley new in the world of automobiles.
Everyone has the same story for a Ford or GM. No doubt. The point being- these stories shouldn't be there for the imports if they were in fact superior to an American counterpart.

Ford and Chevy can go the way of the TV sets here, they can fold, and Nissan and Toyota can take their place.. How many people will they employ? Would be a whole lot cheaper for them to just make it and ship it here for the labor costs alone. They would have no domestic competition, they could charge whatever they wanted..
I blame US, as in You and I for a lot of this mess. I blame the Consumers for not looking at where things are made and where their dollars are going to when they spend.
People pick up ' Consumer Reports ' and read teh Rubbish. How about JD powers and Assoc. They said the LvL2 ranger scored highest on everything in its class, yet didn't get first place? OF COURSE they said the Taco was better, yet the LvL2 hannded its **** offroading!

yes ford can sell its companies and easily get by this crisis...as for the car and driver and other magazine bull s*&t. most of these magazines have a "Gotta Have it Factor" as one of there ratings. They are all bias these days one way or another. The only thing they did right was give the new f-150 the credit it deserved.

ford will always be around. how can one of "first" auto makers dissapear like that. im sure if they really needed to they could survive bu selling one of their other brands. they reported a major loss in 92(i think) and they r still here. no matter how many jap products come to the US there are always diehard american product fans.
