I know of an o'reilys that's out in the middle of no where and the parking lot is on the other side of the building from the street. Its surrounded by woods. Ive been contemplating swapping out the tails. They would probably never even notice. Give me a drill and I can have it done in 2 minutes.

See a lot of pickups parked backside right up against a wall - precisely because it's so easy to undo the tailgate/rear lights/tailgate cables, etc.

Pretty sad to think, though, that a Ranger owner would stoop so low as to do something like that to another Ranger owner - that's the optimistic outlook; sad fact is that human nature can sink pretty low.

but if its a fleet truck at an auto parts store i doubt they love them like we love ours.. so would it really be a harmful thing to do?

well, thats whats great about my 16 y/o truck. never locked, never bothered. my radio is almost as anti-theft as a 8-track. (factory cassette deck am/fm) the most valuable thing thats easily removed is the receiver drawbar & ball. i do have a lock on that though. and a locking gas cap. (put that on when fuel got to be 4 bucks, you can steal the whole truck, but you aint getting the fuel out through the fill)

Go in and ask the manager and trade for $20, he may say yes cause he won't care and pocket the 20.

Locking gas caps are great - pretty well needed when gas gets up that high in price.

When gas hit a buck something a litre (equivalent to your $4.30 a gallon or so) last year, the news up here reported that there were about half a dozen admittances to the emergency ward of hospitals - some dopes were siphoning/stealing gas out of cars, and in the process managed to inhale the fumes/swallow some gas and get sick.

Definitely not worth whatever "savings" they thought they would get from "free" gas.

Nothing worse than thieves and vandals - good to see some of them get some payback, even if it's through their own stupidity.

happened to me and my dad....once

we caught on to who it was after asking around and decided to solve it our way.....

bought a cheap 4 gallon gas can, filled it with bleach and mixed it with maybe 1/2 a gallon of gas to cover the smell. (well worth the $2)
we left it in the back of one of his work trucks overnight.....
the next morning it was gone

later that afternoon we saw the 2 ****** (who everyone we talked to said it was) pushing their precious ghetto mobile down the street WITH OUR EMPTY GAS CAN IN THE BACK SEAT.....apparently it had started to knock and eventually seized up

ive thought about having a "hidden" fuel cell, and leave the stock tank alone, but filled with water, diesel or some other fluid not useable by a gas engine.
