Ranger VS Canyon(Colorado)

So i'm wondering what's gonna happen when my buddy shows up here, with his GMC Canyon (Aka Chevy Colorado) it's got a 5 cylinder inline engine, don't know much more about it than that, i know it is 4x4...

he claims he's got about 30 hp on me, with 1 less cylinder, and he is judging what power there will be off of his 3.0 ranger 4x2 he used to have, any thoughts?

trust me... if you thought a ranger was slow, you ain't driven a 5cyl colorado. Now the inline 6cyl Vortec....that suckers a blast to drive. Those are found in Trailblazers.

Key word... USED to have. Meaning he had an OLDER Ranger.

besides... don't worry about it. If you want speed and accelleration, get a bike.

yeah colorados and canyons are junk, even most chevy guys hate them. there was one that was at the drag strip when i went. thing is a fat pig. slowest vehicle there. ran high 10s in the 1/8. no offense to anyone that has them but they were a major fail in GMs part. they should have kept the 4.3 in them and not go I5 or I6.

hmmm, i used a program called dinolicious on my phone (works like a g-tech) and it says my 1/8th mile was 12.11 and my 1/4 was 18.16, but i'm not 100% sure if that was my f-150 or ranger, also, the weight that I entered was for my f-150, although i don't think that would make a difference in the times

That's why I went with a Ranger. They stopped making the S10. :(

Is this a drag race or are you going to see who can drag who through the mud hole ? If it’s a new Ranger it will leave that GM POS in the dust.

. They are peppy for sure. But seriously doubt it will out run or out pull a new Ranger with a turbo 4 @ 290 HP and a 10 speed transmission.

Trucks are designed to haul stuff not be drag racers. Sure, put a big enough engine in anything it’s gonna go fast but not why I own a pickup. I haul tools in it and use it to work. Exactly what it’s designed for.
