I took my blown Ranger to the track finally.. timeslip here

Well I'll start out by posing the times from my old 3.0L manual transmission reg. cab 2004 Edge (this is just a run I have a timeslip for):
R/T ..... .511
60' ..... 2.413
330 ..... 6.851
1/8 ..... 10.561
MPH ..... 66.42
1000 ..... 13.801
1/4 ..... 16.579
MPH ..... 80.47
That wasnt a bad run for an all motor 3.0L.

Now for the kicker, this is my times for the Explorer Express Supercharged 2006 4.0L ext. cab with 3.55l/s rear end and no shift kit. Keep in mind this is a base engine with no other mods and a bad rear gear for racing and 95 degree weather. For everything this truck has going against it right now, this is a killer time and I am very pleased with it.

R/T ..... .237
60' ..... 2.263
330 ..... 6.492
1/8 ..... 9.879
MPH ..... 72.76
1000 ..... 12.802
1/4 ..... 15.256
MPH ..... 91.23

I have 4.10 gears and a shift kit on the way and in the process of getting my exhaust here and installed. New time slips will be up once I get those things on and colder weather.

new wider and gripper tires would probly help that thing instead of those stock tires

This thing by no means will break the rear tires loose with these gears. I revved it to 3,000RPM and just dumped the throttle and the truck went without even a hint of spinning which is good for racing but a set of 4.10 gears will really make this thing a lot better right out of the gates.

Yes sir, I am. I have been speaking with Dave from Explorer Express since Thursday of this past week and he has all of my business information. We are in the process of getting everything set up and the deal done.

Pretty good improvement. You'll take a full second off your ET with those gears IMO. Definetly be able to rip those back tires. Also, after your engine mods (basic I/H/E) and stuff like that, you'll be good to go. You had a decent 60ft time though compared to the 3.0. Get into the low 2.1's and you'll be good to go.

With the 4.10's you should be at 2.1x or 2.0x

Good luck with everything, I'm trying to follow along!

Thanks guys. It's definately a work in progress but after that track run and the drive to the track I know I need a water injection kit on the blower. The temps just on the outside casing for the blower were way too warm. I'm afraid without some kind of water injection to cool the blower down it will blow.

I will keep everyone updated on the progess. I love this truck now with the blower, it just needs a few kinks worked out and it'll be a real screamer.

First off, let me say. i am very envious of your truck. Great color and awesome motor. BUt your times seem alittle off. MAybe its just the weather but i previously had an 04 4.0 and at the track, perfect weather ran low 15`s and on to a 14.8 at 87(stock motor minus exhaust and intake). I have no prof of this as to beause i do not a have the truck anymore or my time slips so i can`t say much more but others on the site have run comparable times. Just i was expected to see mid 13`s with your setup. Congrats on the truck though, i know you will make it even more badass.

We need a good baseline. Comparing a stock 3.0 to a blown 4.0 is not very credible.

We need some stock 4.0, versus blown to be impressed....right guys??...right??
And a video too...with sound, and hot chicks screaming we love your blower...yeah..yeah..hehe..hehe...kewl...

HAHA^!!!

Ya that's cool dude, but I expected it to be a little quicker too, but It is still way better than stock.

lol well.. I can say I highly doubt a stock 4.0L Ext cab with 3.55 gears runs 14's or even low 15's for that matter. This truck is a hell of a lot faster than it ever was stock. This is a fully loaded up 4.0L ext. cab. Leather interior and all.

I have no baseline runs of this truck but if any of the 4.0L guys want to chime in (Underdog especially) please do. Underdog has a decently modded 4wd but I'm sure he has spent some track time.

lol yeah a 3.55 rear end is not a 1/4-mile runner gear... its more of a 10-mile race rear end gear... I can do 110-120 without a problem.

Well i don`t want to start trouble, and all laughing aside, i thought your truck would at least be low 14`s. My old truck plus atleast two others on this board that were almost stock ran very comparable times in the low 15`s range. i am just trying to help you out with your times.

but you have to think about a few things I have against me right now with a few variables:
this is a supercharged vehicle. It was not dyno tuned. It was 95 degress + 100% humidity. I am running a fully loaded 4.0L ext. cab with 3.55 rear gears.

Doug warned me that the tuning would not be 100%. This being a 2006 model he has not had too much experience with the EE kits on the 06's as of yet.

We'll see what I can do on a night run. This was the dead heat middle of the day. My buddy ran his white lightning this same day which runs consistent 12.0-12.3 1/4-mile runs and he couldnt even manage to break the 12.9 thresh hold. It was a super hot day. I'll go to the track a week from Thursday at night and see if I can make it run better but you can tell I have a severe loss in my tranny and in my rear gears.

Forced induction has a lot of variable which need to be addressed when comparing track numbers. If my blower was too hot (which Im sure it was) the truck will not be running at peak performance. If the air is hot coming in, it will not run at peak performance as well.

What was the temp. you ran at? What are the full stats on all trucks involved?
