Icon14 Sugar in the gas tank = WIN!

So I go to fill up on sunday and theres a pile of sugar all around the filler tube/gas cap area. I was really pissed like anyone would be. So I get it home, and the next day I drop the tank, unconnected everything, we washed it out twice with a hose, filled the tank about 1/4 way with boiled water shook it around and drained it then let it dry for a day, so yesterday I start to put it back in, and I notice that a fuel hose is slowly dripping, so I follow the line and just before the fuel pump there was a crack in the line.

All I have to say is THANKS to some random jackass who decided to put sugar in my tank, without you I could have had a much bigger problem!

I hit up the junkyard today and grabbed another hose, gonna put everything back together in a few minutes

A fuel hose leaked and you replaced it with a junkyard hose? A new fuel line cannot be that expensive. lol

Its an 87, you should of just ran it. Mythbuster ran sugar through the gas tank of an engine and it was just fine. Now if it was an 2k10 truck I would of pulled the tank.

What exactly will sugar do to an engine? Ive heard of people doing it, but never knew the extent of damage it could cause.

This reminds me of a great prank!! Take sugar and sprinkl it around the filler gas door, then on the ground, but NOT IN THE TANK... if they know anything about motors they WILL freak out! great to watch.... ill leave you guys the discretion on how long to let him think he is screwed or when to tell him is a joke...

No a new fuel line wouldn't be expensive, except I went to Ford, NAPA, Kragen, Auto Zone, and Pep Boys, NONE of them had what I needed.

and as for it doing damage to the engine, it doesnt really, but it clogs up your fuel filter and injectors, and injectors aren't cheap

wellcom2knoxvile that's a horrible prank, it's extremely funny and I would laugh my *** off, but at the same time I'd feel bad, cus after what I just went through... it's a real pain in the *** to get it fixed

I got it all in and now she's purrin like a kitten with allergies
