Well there has to be some way, becuase my neighbor has one without the flares also. Pisses me off because it looks too much like my truck from the side. He's stealing all my attention. guess I'll have to start parking the stang outside. Anyway getting off topic here. looks sweet.

I looked at the flares a lil more closely the other day while it was 10F out and 40mph winds. heh... they attach thru the bottom lip of the fender, not thru the side.

I am not a huge fan of the'06 models but they are growing on me. This one looks really sharp.... I wouldn't mind having this one!

Not true.

I looked at the rear flares on an 06 LII on a dealer lot yesterday and they have attachment points into the wheel arches and through the outer sheet metal. If you remove the flares, it will leave many exposed holes in the outer fender sheet metal, similar to previous years. Although I could only access the inside of the rear fender, I would assume that the fronts are attached the same way.

At first, I suspected the same thing, D. But, if you check out his CarDomain, it has more than just stickers and wheels/tires.

Bilsteins, silver tow hooks, black interior, front skid plate, 2-tone paint, etc., all pointing toward it being a real LII. The only things I could find that don't match the brochure are the chrome grille, the missing fender flares and the XL/XLT rear mud flaps found on Rangers without fender flares.

Yes. If I got one, I'd replace off-road sticker with a 03-05 sticker so that it says level 2 there too.

The 06 FX4 Level II now shares the "FX4 Off Road" sticker on the bedsides with the FX4 Off Road model. The "Level II" is relocated to the lower doors.

This guy had an 04 that came from the factory with a chrome grill. It looks like it was a goof up on the line somewhere. I remember that because when I ordered mine I prayed it would have the right grill, cause I personally think all that chrome is gaudy:

As far as the fender flare delete I talked to my salesman at lunch (personal friend so that makes car buying easier!) and he said he doesn't have a clue how he could have gotten the without flares. He said he couldn't order that way as far as he is aware of. I tried to get a CD-6 in mine when I ordered it and he told me there was no way of doing that. The Dual media radio was the only radio offered in the level II package.

The dual media was the only radio offered in the 03 LII's. It is the standard radio in the 04+ Level II but the 290W Pioneer 6-disc with amplified sub was available as an option. It was available only with automatic Level II's because the center sub console occupies the same real estate owned by the manual floor shift.

Neil (lilblue04fx4l2) has that system in his 04 auto LII.

Was that a mid year thing? The reason I ask is the first time I saw one of those was on Cardomain about a three months after I got my 04. Mine was and early 04 though. it was built 11-05-03. Just curious, cause I never even seen it on a option list. I still wouldn't have ended up with it as I was dead set on getting a stick.

Hmmm may be I just never looked hard enough! It would have made me think twice about the stick.

That truck looks sweet. I think Ford needs to send that Nissan designer back and ditch those flares. As for radios, mine (an '05) came with the six disc mp3 player (not the Pioneer 290W version).

we have a 2006 ranger catelog thing at our shop when i picked it up a few months ago.. i found it earlier tonight and was glancing thru it.. i thought i saw in some of their pic's some of the 06's didn't have any flares??? it reminded me of this thread and the topic of optional flares.. so, i dunno... unless my eyes were playing tricks on me, ford has 06 rangers without flares in their brochures (sp?)
