There is a noticeable performance gain by muffler choice on a stock Ranger?

Please, enlighten me . . .

flow masters aren't exactly known for increasing performance.

On a stock 2.3/3.0/4.0 the difference from a stock muffler to a Cherrybomb Glasspack, or the lowest back pressure glasspack would be slim to none. Those dyno results are more than likely on a 4.0L+ V8 making well over the 150hp OP's truck makes. The stock muffler on a stock Ranger motor would at MOST restrict 10hp, realistically about 3hp, which would be hardly noticable. The bottom end torque he would loose with such a small CID motor wouldn't be worth the couple ponies and headaches he gives himself and everyone within 2 miles.

well funny funny.. but to help you ill elaborate a little. If you throw on a flowmaster onto a ranger and dyno it the results will be lower gains than if you had used a borla or a magnaflo does this make more sense, my english teacher =]

Did you not comprehend what I replied?

On a stock Ranger the difference between stock, Flowmaster, Borla or "magnaflo", hell even straight piped would be so minimal you wouldn't notice it. You'd need a dyno just to prove you gained anything, if it be that one or two HP.

And alll i was saying is that all of them the top performing was magnaflow or borla.

So i think we are saying the same things in a different way. i didnt say its great notice ability, i would tell you in mpg with a better air flow setup you can notice it but maybe thats me.

It's the same as mandrel bends and crush bends. In the end I would spend the money on quality mandrel bends and flow through mufflers. Do it right the first time.
