Connecting recovery straps??

Connecting recovery straps??
What do I need to buy in order to connect my tow straps when pulling someone out / getting pulled out. I have the standard recovery strap, I think 40' with loops (not hooks) on both sides. What do I need to buy (on ebay) in order to connect those loops to my truck, whether it be to the openings on the hitch, or the stock tow hooks up front, and to the other persons truck. I am thinking of the thing that you put your keys on that opens and closes, also bigger versions are used for mountain climbing. What is that type of thing called for towing purposes?

^^those last things u mentioned.. HELL NO! WTF are people thinking....personally if u have a reese hitch.. i'd use a pindle hitch.. they are BEEF, the top clamps down so that strap cant come off.. i used one on my dodge.. LOVED IT!

now if u are hooking 2 straps together with loops find a HD D-ring.. thats what i used all the time.. i think it was either 1/2in or 1/4in thick.. worked great.. even tho i'd suggest not to hook two straps unless u have to.. if u do.. be sure it put a rug or sumthing kinda heavy on the strap just incase it breaks.. it will go straight to the ground..
Also, if ur looking for a new strap.. i bought a 30ft by 3in wide ARB tow/****** strap from 4WP, i wouldnt use anything but that.. i had 4 pro-comp straps.. snapped them all.. never had an issue with the ARB

Here...
etrailer.com shackle hitch mount : http://www.etrailer.com/pc-OR~TR63046.htm
PLEASE!!! DO NOT get the harbor freight one...it looks like garbage and looks WEAK as hell. This one i've got is solid steel block with a 7/8" shackle. Others have a 5/8" shackle.

^^ or one of those would work also. dont think you need a 15k+ pull rating on a ranger...lol.. were u talking about one of those clip things rock climbers use for there ropes? if u were... just personal prefernce... i would stay FARRRR away if someone used one to hook 2 straps together to get somebody out that was really F'in stuck.... in some cases down here.. theres a hell of alot more pressure on somthing like that.. way more then 18k

Yes, the shackle D-ring thing is exactly what I need. Thank you.
Is it safe to pull someone if one strap is connected to ONE tow hook on the front of the ranger, and the other side to the truck stuck in the mud? And is it safe to have the strap loose and get a running start in reverse? That seams to be the only way we could ever get eachother out. Seems like its very harmful to the trucks the, especially my clutch

^^going reverse is not always adviseable... i've done it a couple times cuz i HAD to. if the strap has the "loops" try and loop it threw 1 tow hook on the front, then run the other loop to the hitch of the recovery truck. u can back up.. and hual ***.. it's called snatching.. done it millions of times.. but thats how straps break EASY. had one of those procomps come through the rear window of my jeep.. so if i dont have to.. i wont ****** anyone.. ill put it in 4lo and creep them out.

ya it doesnt have to be that exact one, they do make others with out the ball it's self. straight pure steel/iron. i no.. been there, done that, almost got nailed, had one come through the window :)

Make sure you are using a recovery strap, not a tow strap. Recovery straps are usually made of cotton, so they stretch and create an elastic effect. Tow straps are for just that, towing. They barely stretch, and because of this, it is a lot harder on your truck when you are snatching someone out.

and your a moron.. NEVER unless you absolutely have to, pull from a ball... and a 1/4" shackle??? even a 1/2" shackle is TINY, i would say 3/4" if not 7/8" minimum. the 2 i own are both 7/8 WTT. idk what the WTT means but its what you want to look for when you buy one haha
i think you were looking for something more like this.

15,000lbs isnt that much when you factor in a 3-4,000lb truck sunk in the mud or wedged between some rocks, and possibly a 7 or 8,000 lb truck pulling, then the forces exerted on the strap when they give it a good yank.

Thats why a recovery strap is normally rated at a minimum of 25,000 lbs
