Why not just look for a private seller? Dealerships are a rip-off IMO.

Rlong he is looking for the truck, not just dealerships. There are more cars for sale on dealerhsip lots than on owners driveways.

Get a level2 these guys are just mad they have a xlt, theres alot of different stuff thats makes them different. And a normal xlt traction lock is like a open dif compared to a torson.

No, no they aren't. EPIC FAIL though.

The Torsen limited slip was only available in the Fx4 in 2002 and the Fx4 level II from 2003 to 2007.

well i owned an 06 lvl 2 and i also have driven and rode in the xlts on and offroad......to me there was a noticable difference between the two.......also the lvl 2's did come with all the skid plates, leather interior and mine did have the full legnth center console which was sweet and the fact. sub.........its your money but i say IF you can, i would recommend a lvl 2 over an xlt any day of the week...but thats just an opnion from someone who owned one and drove it everyday on and offroad...lol as far as comparing an f-150 to a ranger......onroad ok.....offroad id rather be in a ranger..less weight and less likely to get stuck.....lvl 2 to a raptor or fx4 f150....there is no comparison and i will admit im not a big fan on the APPEARANCE of the raptor but i do admire its capabilities offrad...but the raptor imo is a regional vehicle.....meaning not meant for the south where the mud is and more for the north and west where the dessert and dunes are.

Not even close...the suspension geometry and adjustable coil-overs (NOT SHOCKS!!) of the raptor vs the FX4s 150 geom and struts (basically) is much larger of a difference than the fx4 ranger and L2 different dampening rates and SAME susp design

are you even serious?

for the price difference the level 2's are completely worth the money, the interior alone is worth it IMO don't listen to these r-tards that don't have one and like to whine about everything, keep Looking for what YOU want, it took me a while to find one too.

dern son ain't gotta hate

I happen to agree you know... If L2 had been around when I bought my ranger, I would have def bought one. I am just saying that the 2 don't even come close to comparing (*Raptor vs L2)

You have had epic fail responses to this whole thread, as we have been talking about comparing the Level2 to the Raptor and not to the XLT...

But but...the Level 2 has cool stickers! Way cooler than saying XLT on it.

Why does everyone jizz over twin sticks? I flip a switch, it goes in 4wd. Big effin deal. I pull a lever into Drive, and then smash on the gas. I have 4.10's just like a Level II.

I would rather have an open dif to swap in a Powertrax no slip. I bought mine used for 300 bucks, works awesome. A torsen is good, really good. But it's not a locker.

To each his own, I guess. I would just get a 4.0 4wd in whatever fashion, toss in a Powertrax, and call it a day.

Or quite screwing around with these toy trucks and get a F150.

eff off with the f-150 talk, there not an upgrade to everyone... I wouldn't trade my truck for a loaded fx4 150 and OP has stated he wants a level2, why is this so hard to keep simple?

also where I'm from a used level 2 hardly costs any more than a sport 4x4 or xlt so keep cost out of it

Manual 4x4 is much more reliable, I've already had my module go out on me, $163 part, fu** that.

yeah the manual transfercase is better than the auto, but the auto transmission is better than the manual.

This whole thread is a big waste of breath. The man didn't ask if y'all thought he should get a Level II. In fact he didn't ASK anything. He simply thought enthusiast like himself might like to hear about his efforts in trying to get his dream truck. Instead...y'all act like a bunch of ignorant a$$holes. Good Job!

We have a winner! Guys if your not gonna help a fellow member find a truck then make another thread to argue about the L2 difference.

But riddle me this... a French window sticker? Must be from Canada, 'eh?

If you think thats overpriced, there is a level2 for sale across the street from my work thats selling for 22k. Donno the mileage, but it looks like its lifted and on 33's and has a cool roll bar in the bed.

I'd go with the one from CarMax... the gray/black one. It's almost 2k cheaper, only 2k more miles. The interior is better, has the full console with cup holders... schweet. I've gone through Car-Max before. Their vehicles go thru a very rigorous inspection before they can even be put on the lot. And, if you don't like it, you can return the vehicle after 5 days no questions asked. Any other dealership wouldn't do that. Plus, I wouldn't buy the one with the french sticker... that just doesn't seem right. Hopefully you find something that works for you, good luck.

And YES!

Finally 2 productive posts in this thread.

I second the motion to NOT get the red Ranger, it looks nice, but that's too much money. I think the DSG/Black Ranger looks real good and is a better buy.

Good luck to you in finding a Lvl2 you like..

Im with the rest of them man, i say get the DSG one. But then again, id try to find one with the colors reversed. Never did like the black bottom. Id rather have a black one with DSG bottom. I wish i was in the same boat as you. I should have waited and got a level II because i see so many now with ot many more miles than mine for either what i payed for my truck or cheaper! Good luck on the purchase

Buy a level II! It is well worth the money (although there is no shortage of them around here so the price is the same as an XLT of similar years). I have owned a lot of rangers and the level II is buy far the best factory ranger ever made. Not everybody is into body lifts and 33” mud terrains. Some people just want a good looking capable unlifted truck and that is what the level II is. I personally like Stock Level II’s more than modded ones. IMO it is perfect the way it left the factory. But then again I am an oddball.
