Final Approved Legislation for Lifted Vehicles

Final Approved Legislation for Lifted Vehicles
Here is a link to a local 4x4 site that I'm also a member of.
It is a proposed act , or recommendation by the AAMVA Task Force - their final approved document.
This is pertains to LIFT LAWS and I believe would become a national law.
This was done for both the United States and Canada. It is definatley worth a read since a lot of what would become illegal pertains to alot of the lifted trucks on here.

Well its not horrible to where we cannot do anything...
I'm screwed on bumper and frame height.
I am also screwed on steering, as mine currently comes in contact with a a few items.
Oh and I'll need one of those stickers that says, “WARNING – The
suspension of this vehicle has been modified. As a result, this vehicle many
handle differently than that of a factory-equipped vehicle. As with any vehicle,
Extreme Care must be used to prevent loss of control or roll-over during sharp
turns or abrupt maneuvers. Always wear seat belts, and drive safely,
recognizing that reduced speeds and specialized driving techniques may be
required. Failure to drive this vehicle safely may result in serious injury or death.
Do not drive this vehicle unless you are familiar with its unique handling
characteristics and confident of your ability to maintain control under all driving
conditions. Some modifications (and combination of modifications) are not
recommended”

Umm that means nothing at all. Someone decided to write that up, and make a bunch of people believe it's impending legislation.
1) Explain to me why Canada/America would adopt the same exact laws, makes no sense
2) Who is this supposed organization?
3) Why would they make it a federal law, as opposed to state control as it is now.
4) What is currently happening with it. I bet no one but us web wheelers have seen it.
**** like this gets passed around, I bet nothing will happen.

Here is the draft from the AAMVA themselves
AAMVA Raised Vehicle
And here is the AAMVA Jurisdictions site
AAMVA: Regions and Jurisdictions
From what I read on the AAMVA site this is just a proposal for local jurisdictions, should they decide to change their laws regarding lifted vehicles. I don't think this is forcing them to change, it is just a guide line should they plan on changing.

there's an easy way to fight this, call you local congressman and congresswomen and ask them to vote against this. make it be known that there is an overwhelming majority of young people out there against this legislation. Its going to get harder and harder to modify vehicles. heard on the radio that they want to lower the speed limit in PA to 60 MPH on the highways. we are loosing more and more freedoms everyday. and the ability to modify our own vehicle is a freedom, its time we fight back
I wonder how this will affect lifted trucks with classic car plates. my guess is that they will be exempt.

33's.
Hey if the price is right there will be many states looking to enforce a law just so they can generate extra revenue. For us in Jersey that is guaranteed since our states debt is ridiculous.

I call B/S. First off, it'll never make it in Washington, too many people to fight it. Second, IF (big if there) it goes through, I'm not paying attention to it. 4 wheeling and Rock Crawling are my hobby, and I will not give it up for anything, laws, treehuggers closing my trails, etc.
However, it won't happen. Like I said, too many people to fight it.
