V-6 drop in?

Is there a v-6 engine that will drop right in to a 87 ford ranger?

2.9L V6 is the standard V6 for that era of Ranger but no engine is drop in and plug and play. You will have to switch stuff over that is specific to the engine.

I don’t know for sure but won’t the 4.0L (not the SOHC) just about drop in.
I think it has the same Bell Housing and mount bolt up but how far off the wiring is… lost me on that one.

okay, another question here, is there any significant difference in power between, say a straight-4 engine and a v-4 engine?

If you can find a V4 for the Ranger I will give the money to buy it.

I'd rather go with 302. or if you were feelin REALLLY ambitious, I'd go V8 with a 351.
i've yet to see a ranger with the old F150 460 in it. that would be a beast. maybe an after college project. so i have something to go against beards truck.
