Towing Capacity

towing 5250 seems like a high rating and will be scary with a 4cyl but can be done if my dumbass can do this
then anythings possible
anyhow, i echo everyone elses comments on towing on the bumper, before i was "hitched" i towed a 5x8 uhaul filled with **** and my util trailer filled with firewood but wouldnt trust it for much ... i dont base this on the bumper but on the ball rating cause the holes are pretty small.

If you want to be absolutely sure I would call an authorized Ford representative that could look up your particular truck and it's current configuration, obviously you will need a trailer hitch installed in the correct CLASS rating to take advantage of what you can tow.
Let us know what you find out.

there is no way you could tow what i'm capible of towing with a class 3 hitch and towing package (see sig) with just a four banger on your bumper. the bumper is only rated for like 200-500 lbs. i'm guessing you read the info wrong.
spend the extra coina and get a hitch or find someone with a larger towing capacity.

i've pulled a trailer on my bumper that was about 3000 pounds a few times i didnt really wanna pull it but it worked, gross trailer weight is 2000, max tounge weight is around 250-300 pounds, but yeah just spend the 100 or so on a hitch, it will be worth it and btw my bumper is bent a little from that

Typically, a class 3 hitch is rated at 500 lbs tongue weight and 5000 lbs towing, class 4 is 750 lbs tongue weight and 7500 lbs towing. That's the "safe" limit.
Don't worry about pulling the weight though if its a quality hitch, got a buddy who lived here who owns a '93 Dodge diesel 4x4 and he regularly hauls 10,000+ lb loads with a 6" drop hitch on his factory class 3 hitch lol. I still can't believe he hasn't busted it off the truck yet! I'd be more concerned about your poor 4 banger dying before the hitch breaks. LR

What ever you do DO DO NOT LISTEN TO these people that tell you you can tow more then what the manufacturer recommends, it's stupid,un-safe and your putting peoples lives at risk when you tow more then your truck is suppose to handle, plus it is ILLEGAL and if you have an accident towing 7,000 lbs and the other party can prove you were not suppose to tow more then 5,000 you will be screwed and held liable!!

I don't think 5250 is right for the four banger hitch or not
bumper is rated at 200 tongue and 2000 towing. Its not the bumper/ hitch he should be worried about, its the inadequate braking and acceleration
i wouldn't even do that with my 3.0

haha, yeah I towed a stack of railroad ties on my bumper, 4 high and 4 wide x15ft long( 16 all together)were I worked we built the machines that cut the wood for multiple companies, they were not cut to lenght hence why they were so long, plus they were on a car trailer I was only going around the shop and hit a small pot whole in the drive way trailer bounced ever so slighty and when I stopped my bumper was facing straight down. so the brackets for the bumpers are weak. plus that's why they make hitches (wihch i got now lol) sure the truck towed it fine butthe bumper didn't like it. lol
