time for a new truck

ok its time to sell my truck, i want a 4x4 and a bigger cab. does this seem like a good one to get, besides the body damage?

Plus its a 4.0sohc with 110k miles, that is asking for trouble. I would run, run as fast and as far as possible.

The damage there looks irreparable without replacing body panels + paint = $$$$$

Umm...wtf are you smoking? The 4.0 is a good motor. 110k miles isn't that bad on that motor.

i might ask for 3800 just so when i sell mine for around 4500, ill have enough cash to get a new window and some paint if i can get the dents out by myself. the bed doesnt bother me, just the damage on the cab.

Ford extended the warranty on them to 100,000 miles because of the timing chain tensioner problem. There was a recall on it. 110k miles seems just about right for it to start giving you problems. Not really an issue of if its going to happen but when. Theres nothing wrong with the motor, but I personally wouldnt want to buy a car knowing I might have to tear apart the whole front end of the motor.

To the OP you can contact the dealer to see if this recall was done on this truck.

Timing chain tensioner issues are pre-02 1/2 4.0 SOHC. After 2002 1/2 they fixed the issue.

2003s are the best 4.0 SOHC year IMO. Still the old wiring and no electronic speedo and odo but no timing chain issues.

I agree, that is way to much for that truck. i'd offer the guy 2500, then maybe 3000 if i was feeling generous. it'd be a great truck otherwise.

it'll be a good running truck but as too much damage for my taste for the price, unless you work at a body shop or are good with sheet metal fab and good at taking out dents like that

if you can drive a dented truck around for a while, this would be a nice truck for you to tinker on then IMO. but i still wouldn't offer the guy much over 3k

If you can wait until June then see if you can get a nice vehicle from a non-rust-belt state for a decent price. I see nice vehicles all the time for under $1000.00, ready to go, no rust, no wrecks, maybe need douche and fresh paint, but gets you a nice starting point. I would rather spend $1000.00 more for a rust free area vehicle because for every area of rust you see there are 10 or more you don't see in inner panels, door frames, etc.

well i bought the truck and paid 4,200, popped the dents out of the front fender, the ones in the cab i hammered out for the most part but im just gonna weld on a new cab corner, and most of them on the bed took one hit to pop out. im going to buy a new door because and cant get it lined up right and i have no access to the dents from the indide. now all thats left is bondo and paint.
