How do you take it off?

I've been working of a few interior mods for my truck and it's coming along slowly. BUT.. i have a problem. How does one take off the 12V thingy? I can't figure it out. I need the sucker OUT and i'll be *almost* done.

sorry, i won't post pics.. well, maybe, haha. but don't hold you breath.

You mean the power point connector? Cigarette lighter jack type thingy?

It's in two pieces. The back part is a long tube that has threads on it and comes off. Pick up your center console face, put a finger or two in the front hole of the connector, grab the rear tube and rotate counter-clockwise. It will unscrew from the front piece and the front piece then pulls out the front.

Hope that's what you were talking about.

You mount the level control in the old cigarette lighter position particularly and it's real nice because it's right next to the volume control. If you can find the right **** for it, it blends right in and doesn't look like a mod at all.

This is what mine looks like:

That's an old picture. A lot of changes since then -- additional switches, new radio, etc.

The article on what I did is here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/296394/8

That's on my cardomain site as well. I can't remember what page it starts on, but it might be 16. There's 6 pages but that's because it's very detailed as to parts variations and Ranger variations. I'm up to like 24 or 25 pages there now with all the mods and such.

Edit: Sorry it starts here on page 14: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/296394/14

that looks really nice sir

the mods that i did and the questions i asked were totally separate, hah. I actually did the OHC mod yesterday and it was so much easier than I thought it would be. BUTTTTT... i have a few questions regarding somethings. I'm gonna start a new thread though.

thanks for the help about the powerpoint thingy, it was super easy (couldn't grip it, so used a crescent wrench).

oh, and one thing i noticed.. the explorer bezels are pretty different from the ranger ones. The vents are bigger for explorers and the powerpoint fitmant requires some sanding.

sorry! no pictures ok well.. maaayybbee.. i'll see how it goes tonight. maybe just one (uggh.. i'm gonna hate myself for posting them)

Dang I knew some one had to do this already. I did mine too except I used the lighter as the **** to make it look stock.

Hey, that's a good idea -- I never thought of that. Did you have to do anything to make it fit?
