i have the 20'? 25'? it was $25... like 2" wide strap from walmart, its worked great i see no need for a big expensive one unless your going to be using it everyday, or you need a really heavy one because your pulling on/ getting pulled on by really heavy powerful trucks.
i just put the loop of the strap into my hitch and put the pin through it.
for the hitch, if you want something, this looked pretty badass

Amen to that. Those ***** can be killer, literally. Go the proper safe route, and shackle or hook it on a receiver.

I would go with the D-ring. Its a closed loop and as long as you have them on both ends of the strap, the only way that strap is comming off is if something breaks. I dont like the chance of the strap being able to slip off of the hook.

You need a recovery strap, which will stretch, and has no metal hooks...

My arsenal:
2x 10k pound, 15' tow straps (they had hooks, but I cut 'em off)
1x 20k pound, 30' ****** strap
a dozen or so different sized d-rings
1x 10k pound, 10' heavy duty chain
I keep all this in one of those "environmentally friendly" reusable grocery bags (fabric ones) in my cab.
Ohh, and a 5 foot hi-lift.

Bad bad bad! Its a tow strap, so DO NOT yank or tug with that strap AT ALL. It has no stretch. Also, Its possible for that strap to snap, or a hook to come undone, and one of those metal hooks to become a projectile.

Its too bad you dont understand physics. When a line under tension snaps it snaps straight back its not going to go flying ***** nilly through the air and cut everyone in a 30' radius in half. Therefore, dont stand near a strap when its under tension. If your sitting in the drivers seat your fine.

Um.... I tied one end around a stump and the other around the ball on my hitch and yanked the hell you of that thing. The hooks are stronger then the strap, meaning the strap will snap long before the hooks will ever break.

even if u strap yourself to a tree and go ***** out, that has no meaning here, its safety thats everyones concern, not how much stress can be put on the strap to prove its worthy. if you wanng go physics, what would have more potential of harming something, a strap breaking with a metal hook, or a strap breaking with a closed loop end?
and for your main post, WTF are you using the ball for. you have no right to talk
