Flash PCM with new software better MPG?
Searching around on ebay came across this 2004 ford Ranger.

Guy says
"I recently had the PCM (computer) flashed and updated at Ford on a WDS with the newest program for better gas mileage."
Is that even possible if so why don't they talk about it to encourage people to do it.

Thats a very good question. If you find its possible let me know! I changed plug wires to taylor thunder sport 8.2 mm and that adds lots of power. Suprising i know but also good for gas.

I have heard of it before.

They had a recall on some trucks with the 4.0 i think which updated it to a new version. That was around 04 models.

Are you talking about the TSB recall when they set the calibration code lower in the tranny?

the tsb isnt for mpg it is for transmission bucking. it applies to the 5r55 trans from like 04+ i think
