Maybe going back to a Ranger...
A little over a year ago I traded my Ranger in for a New 2010 F-150 FX4. My new truck its a great truck but I am getting very aggravated with the power train. I'm defintely not a fan of the new 6 speeds they put it. It shifts very irregularly and sometimes misses shifts all together. Traction control is my second complaint. I can go around a turn at 15- 20 miles an hour and traction control kicks in. When this occurs it is pretty much impossible to accelerate. I have taken the truck in to the dealership and got the trans reflashed 3 times. Every time its the same thing. The dealership insists that the traction control is normal. I purchased a SCT X-3 to hopefully solve the trans issue but it has done next to nothing. The more I think about it the more I miss my Ranger. I am seriously debating selling my truck for another Ranger.

Trading my Ranger was a pretty stupid decision. I kept trying to make excuses to get a full size even though I didnt really need one. I have looked into older F-150's and would get one if I found the right deal. The biggest reason I would go back to a Ranger is because I am comfortable with them and have learned quite a bit about them over the few years of owning mine. Plus they are pretty easy to mod lol.

I think you mentioned it. I remember you tried talking me into a 05 FX4 you guys had just gotten on trade in right before I bought my truck.
Yep those are definitely the biggest complaints. They have threads regarding installing a switch to bypass traction control but IMO its not worth trying to screw with it on a brand new truck.

There is a button. But this thing was built for "saftey" and you can only turn off traction control until you hit 35 mph.

Nothing will happen with a 6R80 if you reflash and dont clear the transmission adaptive tables. You would not believe the difference clearing the adaptive tables and performing the adaptive drive cycle in WSM section 307-xx makes. Not saying this is a cure all, because i know all about the 2-1 bump, the new 2011 2-1 shudder and all the other shift concerns these things have

Yes we did. Due to some medical issues with my mom we decided it was best she not drive. So instead of selling my dads truck. We decided to sell the fusion and put more money in the bank.

there is no build date for bad plugs in a 3 valve 5.4, THEY ALL have the same problem from 04-08 where the spark plugs break off in the heads. Other than that, they are known for a trans noise that is present until the torque converter locks up (#9 bearing in the trans), bad cam phasers or failed cam bearings (caused mostly by the use of a non motorcraft oil filter, especially FRAM) and some noise from the IWE (integrated wheel ends, hubs) caused by a vacuum leak, stuck check valve or faulty IWE solenoid
