Maybe sell'n the Ranger...

Well I don't really need to for money or anything, but I think its maybe time to move on from it. I've been thinking about it lately and I just dont use this super expensive toy enough at all. 2 dune trips a year just doesnt justify owning it. It was a badass project, fun as hell to drive but I just cant get the use out of it localy. Its not costing me anything to have it around which is why I dont really need to sell it. Its just that it just sits there like 300 days a year which a few drives and trips. And now i'm looking at another winter I have to find a good way to store it. I really dont know what to ask for its just been up on CL with a make offer on the fact I dont need to sell it, so it has to be pretty good. I was thinking between 10-15k but IDK. So far I have a guy in kansas willing to drive and get it for 8700... or a fresh rebuilt 04 wrx with sti conversion and a bunch of other goodies, built internals, tuned etc pushn about 340hp + 1500 bones. Now I could get way more use out of that car for a while and then sell it when I want to much easier than my truck for some money. If I get the car i'll be getting something for a strait trail rig so dont worry i'll still make the dune meets and hopefully more since I'll have a crawler/trail rig to take more places out of state and locally. There is also a local guy here that just looked at it tonight and is very interested and knows the scene and seems like hes got pretty good money. he was going to build an exploere this winter just like my setup but he could buy mine and be done basically is the selling point. If I could I'd try and sell it at the dunes..but thats a ways away.

so what it comes down to is an 04 wrx/sti +1500, or somewhere between 11-14k possibly. I would mainly use the money for a house , or a car and a trail rig. Believe me, Its not easy thinking of getting rid of it but I just dont use it and both of these guys would way more than me. the guy from kansas goes to glamis, and the oklahoma dunes like 20 times a year, so it'd be in good hands so to speak.

I guess i'm just going to ask what you guys think... or if anyone wants to make an offer feel free! haha

I don't blame you one bit. If it makes sense for you then go for it.

I'd hate to see it leave your hands. It is a great truck and an inspiration for what I want one day. I can understand why you wouldn't mind getting rid of it. I wish I had the coin. It would save me from having to do all the work to mine.

At least I got a ride in it once and I can say I took a couple of awesome pix of it.

Tough decision. That thing is awesome but I feel your pain on not getting to use it all the time.

Still considering the wrx? sounds like a pretty useful trade, but i think you'd be much happier with cash.

but what happens when you get a car and or a trail rig, and your diesel is just sitting there and only getting used to tow the rig?

i'm glad we could get the 2 5.0 rangers together, to bad i failed and we didn't do any pics.

i should got a ride in it too, damnit!

if u get that wrx make sure he has the sti trans in it too. my friend bought an 06 with sti conversion. everything but the tranny was swapped (even the interior) and now that its tuned and has some upgrades with around 320ish horse hes afraid to beat on it and blow it

i love that car though and around here the insurance is cheaper for an STI than a regular WRX which is really weird lol

I would still use the diesel often, for its bedspace and in bad snows. but if I had a dif. offroad rig i would use it moe which I would then tow it up north a lot and to the dunes and other offroad meets ive missed

Ugh... Only you can make the choice... Don't let others force you to get rid of something you will miss.

I have a boat thats been used about 10 days a year for the last 15 years... I will never get rid of it...
I have a Jeep that has accumulated 4000 miles in the last year... I will die with this one
I have a Blazer that has less than that in over 8 years.... I don't need it but don't want to part with it.

I don't owe anything on them, but I use them to get away, even if I don't leave the yard... Sanity is my reason for keeping them, I can work on them and escape ( mostly the wife ) , that and if I do sell anything I will find another project to build and it will cost alot more... ( And she will bitch more )

If it makes sense go for it. I'd hate to see it leave your hands. Hopefully the next owner will treat it well.

I'd honestly love to buy it, I'd want something more suited for crawling

Tell you what. I have $78.14 in my bank account, I only live 10 miles away. Hand it off to me and you can still come and look at it and wash it when ever you want. I will keep it at my house in Minnesota, and I promise that I will never allow it to cross the boarder into Wisconsin (unless it is to be used in an epic jump over the St Croix). I will take great care of it too. I promise that I will drive in the ditches at least twice a month, and air out the suspension on a weekly basis. I will even put seasonal air into the tires. Don't worry, I will make sure to get the full usage out of it.

Lets build a ramp right at the bottom of the hill on 94 in Hudson, be able to build some hardcore speed before you hit the ramp.

problem is, that would be jumping from WI to MN, which would mean that the truck would have to be in WI, which is not cool. We want to reduce the time in the land of cheese......
