High RPM, Low Acceleration

High RPM, Low Acceleration
Hi. I have a Ford Ranger 2006, 5 speed, manual transmission. For a while now I have noticed that my car has low acceleration even though it reaches high RPMs. Engine revvs and so it produces loud sounds too. For example, car reaches 20KPH and RPM pumps up to 3. I have visited a mechanic and was advised that the air filter be replaced. That being said, I have replaced the air filter but there’s still no change in the car’s performance. I did a bit of research and came across clutch slipping. With this, I have had my mechanic replace my clutch disc, anticipating that after doing so, my car would run smooth again. But after replacing the clutch disc, still no change in my RPM/acceleration concerns. It’s getting frustrating now. I really hope you could help me on this one. Thanks a lot!

When stopped put transmission on 4th gear, let out the clutch, engine should stall instantly as new clutch disc grabs flywheel.
If there is a delay and RPMs drop slowly before stalling then you still have a clutch problem.
Could be master is not releasing pressure from the slave so clutch is engaging too slowly.

Hi Ron and thanks for the response. Yesterday, I did a test wherein the car is parked, hand brakes engaged, gear in 3rd, then I let out the clutch and car instantly stalled. Should I still perform the test you suggested? If not, what step do I take next? Thanks again.
