Replacing shock mount on frame

Alright, On my 95 E350 in the front, the shock sits on a bolt thats attached to the frame, but the bolt became loose, and now the hole that the bolt used to go thruogh is sloppy. Anyways, I was wondering (trying to save money here) can I use, say two pieces of 1/4 in flat stock, and 'sandwich' the frame where the hole is supposed to be, and then just drill a hole thru of the proper dimension? I was thinking, I could attach the 2 pieces to the frame using 2-4 grade 8 bolts to hold it in place... would this work, or am I wasting my time?

Get someone to weld those pieces on. If the holes are sloppy, just clamping two pieces on either side won't do much good in the long run I don't think.

Alternative is to weld little dimes (shaped -- not real dimes!) of metal in the holes and the re-drill them. Drill them small and then ream or dremel them carefully out to an exact fit for the bolts.
