Bed rust or damage

I have 2 Rangers. one a 1993 V6 and a 1999 Inline 4 and both of them had damage and rust on the drivers side bed. I was wondering if it ever happened to any of you guys.

^ Precisely the reason why I am considering throwing some Fiberwerx sides on my own truck...Just want the peace of mind of them not rusting out.
