Pre runner PPl! Point me in the right direction

I have 04 Level II ranger. My knees latley have been killing me. I am going to the doc next week. I have been racing quads for a while so I may be getting out of it.

Anyways.....Maybe within ther next couple years I am thinking of turning my truck into a pre runner. Something to jump maybe 5 feet off the ground or so. But mainly suspension for the fields and bumps. I don't know much at all about this.

So if you could point me in the right direction for searching this topic. I would like to research this to figure out how much money and if its even worth it to me.

dixon bros for the fron,t full cage, deaver springs in the rear with long travel shocks mounted in your bed cage.. great setup, but if you wanna get really extreme fourlink the rear with coilovers they even have kits that you weld up or have welded up depeneding on your welding skills.. check out http://www.giantmotorsports.com/products/index.php but you will have to get a different rear end i dont think you can weld to the 8.8 you could get a 9inch or even an 8inch will work.. and dont forget bumpstops the air bumps make a big difference in jumping..
then smaller stuff.. fiberglass, bucket seats, safty harnesess, lights, limit straps, bumpers, spare tire holder, etc..etc

have fun, JOSH

Thanks for all the info, Between this site and others I am getting farther along then I though.

So far going off some options

Dixon Bros LT Front End with Fox Shocks: Price: $4160.00, its $1700 cheaper without the shocks. I could make my own shock hoops but I think it would be easier to just buy the whole kit
Leafs: $500 (deaver)

Thats all the farther I am lol

Prally stay at a set - up like this for a while to get myself going. then I would start looking into diffrent possibilities.

I am sure I could find a really good welder. I know some ppl that work for beer, or cash ether one lol.

Dang I am kinda excited. Too bad it can't happen for a while. But I should be really pre pared when I do do it.

pull the BL, get fenders, dixon brothers kit, and some other stuff. should be good to go. we will need to build up the rear of the truck too. deavers is an option but some chevy springs would work as well.

btw I will have a welder by the end of summer, and get some training I should be good to go. i would offer some space in my shop for a few weeks, not to mention i know someone with a bender

Thanks zach!

Prally will not do this soon. Just doing research to see if I even want to yet. So far I do. Dosen't seem to hard. I will be going with the deavers. I talked to Rngrunner (something like that) he helped me out with some good info. When I get bored tonight I am going to make a list.

Dang shocks are expensive :(

Edit: BTW I will not be doing a roll cage right away. too much work. I would get a bed cage from deavers I belive.

you know you are always welcome to swing over...

btw you need to look up DesertSpive on ORR he built a LVL2 similar to yours with the DBR kit, so did rngprerunner, both are very knowledgable about the kit.

Not sure I think I need a house first...but the woman likes the idea of me doing this

Her email
I think it would be safer if you
were
in a truck, but it is still kinda scary. I think I would like it
better,
possibly." Hurray lol

BTW My parts list so far.......that dosen't include a bed cage which I think is $500, seats, harness, and all the odd and ends crap.

Dixon Bro Front w/o shocks $3,000 <<<< Not sure what to do yet
Dixon Bro Front w/shocks $4,200 <<<<< Not sure what to do yet
Shock Tab Plates $75
Deaver Leafs w/ U bolts and Bushings $570
Shocks in the rear Not sure brand $1,400 <<rough guess

thinking of getting the kit without shocks then getting sway a way all the way around

the rear shocks need not be that expencive... unless you go with threaded body shocks to later convert to coil overs...

and all coilovers are around 1k to 1.5 k so pick a brand you like or just get the kit its about the same either way..

and mount the spare tire or tires wayy in the back of the bed so youll fly flat... dont wanna nosedive!

sounds like fun.. if i keep my truck long enough im going to be doing the same as you.. but il goin four link off the bat.

I don't really. If I get out of quad racing I will sell one of my race quads and get some money that way. Then try to get my truck paid off fast and the money will come rolling in then

i think the DBR kit is the best choice for what you want to do josh.

make sure it comes with the longer CVs or u will have to get some made.

Ya I could buy a already pre runner but its kinda fun to do it your self.

I would go 4 link right away but I think I will save that for later. 4 link would prally be over kill for me.

plus I will let zach do it first. he is the test subject
