That's it, I'm done!

Well after much debating with myself and a couple other people, I've decided that I'm pretty much done with the Ranger.

It is a 2wd and I do love off-roading, so I'm gonna start saving up some cash for a Superduty, which I have been planning on for the past couple months or so.

If I save up about $4k-$5K and sell my truck I can get a used F250 with a 7.3L and 4x4 for about $15K.

I do need to replace a couple things becuase everytime I go out wheelin' I manage to break or bend something. Here's a list of some thing I need (pm me if you can hold it for a while cause I start my new job this weekend, or know where I can get one for a good deal):

-FX4 Valance or whichever one fits the Edge Bumpers
-FX4 Towhooks (stainless or black)
-New Factory Foglights ( busted one the other day)
-New Tailgate (preferably black)

I think that's pretty much it, I aslo want to get rid of my WAAG bar (dented bottom bar) and get some Jusnes Modified light tabs (harmless plug) and some Hella 500s.

I'm sure I'll find some other stuff that needs to be fixed/replaced but that's it for now.

Superduties are too big to do any serious off-roading IMHO.

Keep the ranger around to be your daily driver. Get a beater 'yota, jeep, or some other older truck.

^^that's exaclty what i was thinkin.

8" DR Lift with 37s

Best lookin setup I've seen.

I don't go out much, but when I do I want to be able to hang with some of the big dogs I go out with. The guys I usually go with made it through Tellico's Extreme courses without any major problems.

It would only take me about a year or so to save up 4-5k when I was workin at Applebee's, but I was make about 1k a month with about 500 cash in my pocket a month. That doens't sound like much to a waiter, but I was a host....yeah easy job, lol. I was makin about $10-12/hr. But I start at Lowes @ $7/hr. I'm gonna be workin my *** off there during school.

When school's out I'll have one online class for the summer and double up on Lowes during the day and Fed Ex overnight. I don't sleep anyways, so I will be alright for a couple months.

it may be the best looking. but any way you look at it a super duty on 37"s is street truck. its too heavy and big for trails. mud and street is about the only places i would take a truck like that. keep the ranger and SAS it. IMO.

i agree^^^^^... the superduty is way to damn big to go through the trails at tellico... if you want to hang with the "big dogs" your better off getting an old jeep, yota or old ranger and building it up... just because you got a huge lift and 37s doesnt mean you can go throught those trails.. do you realize how dang heavy superdutys are? and why would you get a newer truck to go on the trails when it is very very possible your gonna flip it over, dent it to hell, or scratch it... it just seems like a waste of money to build a rig that you want to take on trails in tellico or what not like a superduty.. dont get me wrong i want one myself... i damn sure want one... but if you get one use it to tow your trail rig...... well just my 2 cents

not a hater, i just dont see it happening, and i dont see the logic. i would love to see a vid of a 250 on 37"s (and probably 24" rims) taking on tellico's harder trails. are you going to put a cage on it? are you putting stronger axles in it? are you putting lockers in it? 8 inches of lift and big tires arent going to make it through those trails

I havent seen any hating... but i completely agree with Stephan and Kurt. If you are going to attempt those hard trails, all thats going to happen to a nice 250 is scratches dents or worse. its a horrible waste of the truck. I still dont buy that the 250 can be a hardcore off-roader, its just too damn big (that is w/o major mods). Get a 03 or earlier FX4 F-150 if you want power and space, but still have a truck that has a chance at those trails. IMO a LVL2 would be the best bet for you....

im not hating either.. but its unrealistic... its just too big..ive been to tellico and uwharrie.. and a lifted superduty WILL NOT be able to get through a majority of the harder trails.. the trails are very narrow, and you cant be afraid to get a few dents and scratches.. if you have seen the trails you would know what i am talking about... and you tell me the sense of taking a new superduty and banging it all to ****.. you need more then just lift and tires... next time i go out that way with my friends i will show you the trails.. and do you also know how long those things are, you would get held up on rocks and other sweet things...

We aren't saying it won't be capable. It will be impractical and won't fit down the trails for serious offroading.

well i am saying it wont be capable..... you been there man? you know what your talking about?... ill wait for that one...

like i said earlier.. i want a superduty myself... but its to damn heavy, wide, long for a truck that you want to go through tellico... id say get an old yota jeep, ect. and show your buddies what a real machine will do... ill see if i cant get some pictures from tellico to post up here in a sec..

ok, i think our big problem here is (other than the fact that the one who is wanting this truck hasnt replied yet) that maybe we all have differing thoughts on what an "extreme" trail is. maybe this kind of truck can make it up some trails, but not ones labeled "extreme" in my head. so untill the man himself replies lets leave it be. maybe we are all just confused.

Edit: thes arent what i would call extreme trails but pretty close. and i just cant see a super duty making through this.

BTW. these are all from Tellico

yeah the first one is the lower 2 rock garden.... ive seen some heavily modded trucks not get through there.. thats probably one of the most extreme at tellico... thats not a great picture of it tho.. its real steep and very very tough to navigate, if you run the wrong line, you will not make it up.. i wouldnt even attempt it with a fullsize anything... the majority of the small ammount of vehicles that make it up that trail are buggy type vehicles.. fully caged, some running on propane... lockers front and rear of course, some even running doublers... it is allot harder then it looks like in that picture...
