why do rangers lack aftermarket support?

when i read these threads about superlift filing for chapter 11, RCD discontinues the ranger lift... why does noone get into this action? obviously us ranger owners are hungry for mods, just like any other vehicle. and its not like this is new. there are at least 5 lift options for TTB rangers... why did interest die with IFS? other companies like skyjacker, fabtech... they are perhaps the most popular kits for other IFS trucks like 150's, chevy's, and yota's. seeing as rangers are still in the top 5 of compact-midsized trucks.. shoot probably more popular than a couple of fullsizes, where is all of our cool toys geared especially for a ranger, not something you have to fab a little.

what did ranger's do in the past that limits our options, an furthermore, WTF?

/rant

(i didnt put this in the BOV since i figure it might spark a good discussion, lol)

Superlift isnt going anywhere. i think that was just a bad rumor.

as for the rest of your questions, i wonder the same all the time. the only thing i can think of is the ranger enthusiast community just isnt big enough to justify the R&D costs to make new products... most Rangers are fleet trucks lol

one thing I can come up with is that a majority of ranger owners use them in their business, or are teenagers/younger people who don't really have a steady/amazing income and cant really afford or satisfy the options they want. you know? how many users come on here asking for the best way to lift their truck for the cheapest cost?

Isn't ford discontinuing the American version of the ranger for the f-100? If this is true the might think the ranger community might migrate over to that platform and possibly lose interest?

he's talking about ford building a NEW style F100. it would be bigger than the ranger, but smaller than the F150. Kind of like a dodge dakota in size.

The lack of aftermarket support almost makes me want an S10.

But then even every custom S10 looks like every other custom S10.

Atleast for Rangers there are lift and drop kits available, exterior, interior and engine accessories and stuff. I don't see what's to complain about really. I'm getting the short end of the stick on this deal with a Mazda for the exterior accessories, but atleast the engine and suspension parts will fit.

Where is all your sources? Just curious.....

The rumor of the F-100 being re-introduced has been floating around since 2006, so if it's actually set in stone, I'd be interested to read that....

yeah, and look at how many custom Rangers are on here, let a lone the custom ones you see on a regular basis on the roads who aren't members on here. The Ranger is probably the 2nd most popular truck behind the S10. Rangers do have lots of aftermarket support, but the thing with S10s is that they're just truck versions of Honda Civics.

I know theres alot of awesome parts out there for Sdimes and Yotas.....

BUT...I think there's plenty of aftermarket out there for rangers. If there's enough to make a truck look tacky thats custom fit for the truck, there's enough aftermarket parts for it.

Eh, to me bolt on is not custom. If you can pick it out of a catalog, anyone can get it.
Just my opinion.
The only thing I would like is more support/choice for SUSPENSION!

i know i could, but then its not a mazda anymore. i like the uniqueness of the mazda, but dont like the lack of exterior accessories. I finally found a billet grille for it on ebay today.

i think rangers have a large aftermarket in offroading, they are king of desert trucks, and the way ford built them dictates the after market. s10's are axle over, reverse shackle trucks and it makes them way easier to start with for street mods

Rangers & S10s are equally good at what they're made for.

You make a good point with Rangers being great for lifts and S10s prime for being slammed.

It seems that there are way more rangers out there driving around than s10s, at least around here.

I heard a rumour that '97 S-10's had problems with their engines, that it breaks down after 38,000 miles, and needs to be replaced after that. Any truth to that ??
