tranny crossmember

Anybody know where I could get a stock tranny crossmember for my 89 5 speed 4 banger, 2 WD. All the ones I can find up here are rotted out like mine. I just picked up the truck for 400 bucks, 118k no rot, needs a hood and tailgate which I think I've already found(driving by braille) and leaf springs, which I've ordered. The old guy must have thought it was a 1 ton and snapped the springs and welded them back together(nice). Anyway I couldn't pass it up. Very good condition for the year up here in new england. Just need the crossmember to get it back to very good condition. Thanks

welcome. but the only option i really see would be a junkyard. sometimes if you try carpart.com and contact the actual yard....they can transfer it over to other yards closer to you or something.

could you have a shop custom make one? i wouldnt be surprised that was cheaper/easier than sourcing a stock one in good condition

Well I drove an hour to look at a rotted tailgate, But I did get a decent hood and bed liner. Not a totle loss. Crossmember was junk...I did see an aftermarket crossmember. Nothing like the one on the truck but they say it fits. I think I will check with some of the online auto recyclers( like rstangboi suggested) and cross my fingers. Thanks

Found someone that took the tailgate off his truck twenty years ago and stored it in his mothers attic(midnight Blue) Perfect match and just a couple scratches on the inside off the gate. I've found out that the tranny crossmember is year specific to the truck. I could get a 90-92, but I would have to change the mounting brackets. Rear springs came in...doesn't look like I'll get to it until next week.

to use a newer style cross member is gonna be alot easier then finding one of the older style rust free, i had the same problem when i did the clutch in my bronco 2 and ended up using the newer style crossmember. if i remember right i only had to drill a couple holes to get it to work.
