Would you be kind enough to check your drivers side wheelwell for me? My 2008 has no splash shield over the upper A-arm on the drivers side, however the passenger side does. Ford is telling me that was eliminated on Job#1 for the 2005 model year. Seems odd that you can see the side of the engine block, the oil filter, steering shaft etc. The reason I was given is it improves air flow for the AC condenser, sounds questionable to me. The passenger side was left in to protect the air filter from splash. Those of you that go wheelin must get lots of mud and crap thrown in there. Just want to check to see if the dealer is BS'ing me on this, The rear wheelwell rear splash shields were missing and installed last weekend.

Thanks everyone.

It's supposed to be like that. The dealer is not BSing you. I don't know the technical reason why it's not there but your truck is fine.

I just went through that, Called em up they said they don't come with them.

I know one of the dealers and he showed me on all the other rangers at the dealership that none of them have it. He didn't even believe it because the holes are there and everything for one.

Its for Ventilation or some crap. But like said above if it bothers you the much a passenger side one will fit, and the holes are already there in the fender well.

when they were testing the trucks in the desert, they were to the point of overheating, so they made them smaller for better cooling. then they eliminated them all together.

Mines an 04 and came with the little one.

I replaced mine:

with out it, you do end up getting a ton of crap into your engine compartment, after putting the new one on, plus the front skid plate, I dont get hardly anything into my engine compartment. Which is why, my engine is so clean all the time.

ya, they don't have one on the driver's side. I tried to get one too when I first got my '07, but there is no part # for it. I checked all the Rangers on the dealer's lot and they are all the same.

Here's another thread on the same topic:

Thanks everyone. I may order the one for an 04 and put it on or the suggestion of the passenger side. It does provide a possible access for the oil filter.

Thanks again
