New Clutch, slave installed wrong?

New Clutch, slave installed wrong?
So I'm back from Canada and I picked up my Ranger on Saturday from the mechanics with a new clutch and slave. I was driving it home and getting used to the new clutch and it seemed...weird. I've been driving all week and I really think something isn't right. The pedal has about 2 inches of "slack" instead of the standard 1 inch. The clutch isn't engaged until the pedal is COMPLETELY depressed to the floor. On start up in the morning and after long sits on even ground I can slowly (and fully) let of the clutch in gear and it will start to "idle" like an auto and will not stall out like it should. That tends to go away after it warms up but it still will inch forward if I partially engage the clutch before it starts to stall.
He mentioned that he had a hard time putting in the slave. Is it possible to install it wrong and create these effects? Or maybe this is just the way it is supposed to be and I was so used to my stiff a$$ old slave that this is actually what it is supposed to be like.
Oh and the clutch fluid is topped off so it's not that.

and help me out HAHA.

well you'd know the slave was bad if you had no pressure from the pedal pushing back on you but from the sounds of it something does seem wrong with the slave if you have to push it really far down to get any sort of pressure out of it and if its not stalling out. and it would make sense that going away when it gets warm because the fluids get hot and expand, i'd take it back and make them look at it again.
