Icy windows

I constantly have ice building up on and around my wipers.
Even with the defrost on full blast this still happens.
So, I have an idea that might help this, let me know what you think.
I am thinking about using a rear defrost kit on the bottom 4" or so of
my front windsheild. JC Whitney makes a kit --CLICK ME
Do you think this will work?

Lift the wipers up off the windshield before it starts to ice up, and scrape the ice off the windshield when you go out

Some auto manufacturers have done the equivalent what you are suggesting by installing a windshield with an integral defrost grid from the factory. It is usually just two or three grid elements down low where the windshield wipers "park".

That always happens up here, it alwyas freaking annoys me.....you get those streaks of water b/c the ice is frozen to the blades. I think that's a great idea! Let us know how it works out.

I scrape my window and my wipers clean before I drive.
As I'm driving is when it keeps icing up. And reaching out the window
snapping the windshield wipers is kinda dangerous when you're driving
in a snow storm. I think I will try this once I get some money for xmas.
