seat belt minder

Does anybody know how to disable the seat belt minder on a 2007 ranger. Tried it by the owners manual but it's only good until you restart it. Tried another internet post but that didn't work either.

I have the same question myself. I tried the procedure in the book, but the last step didn't seem to work. Is there a trick to this?

Cheers,
D.

I always drive my seat belt on (and so should you) so it doesn't bother me. There have been a couple times when I haven't because im off road doing something. And i just run the seat belt behind the seat and clip it.

theres no reason you don't need to wear a seat belt. your 52, you should be setting an example by wearing a seatbelt, not how to defeat it.

Go to a junkyard and get a seatbelt clip, and plug it in.

The how-to is in your manual, and this still works on the 06 rangers...

I'm not sure how you disable that sucker. Luckily my '99 doesn't do that, or I would be finding wires to cut or twist together. I can't even stand the door dinger. If I want to listen to the radio with the door open, I shouldn't have to hear that dinger. Duh, I know the door is open! I ended up taping the contacts on a little plug out of the bottom of my steering column to kill the dinger with the key in the ignition. Then I pulled the GEM or another electronic box behind the radio to to find the actual speaker where the door chime comes from. I opened the box, found the speaker, and proceeded to fill it with silicone. Noise finished for good. I hate nannys like that...

The seatbelt annoyer, err minder, can usually be defeated by looking in the manual. But you said you tried that, huh? I don't know about the '07, but I disabled my gradmother's in her '02 by doing some goofy proceedure like key in the ignition- on, off, on, off + click your heels and twinkle your eye.

It's really annoying to check cattle or fences, drive back in the lease property, or go through gates with that thing beeping at you every 45 sec.

If the trick in the manual doesn't work, get creative is all I can say. I know you have warranty and all, but a drop of silicone can work wonders without anyone's feathers at the local dealership getting ruffled.

What's next on our trucks, doors that lock automatically? Oh wait, they already do that...

For all you know-it-alls, no I can't do the seat belt because I have no dexterity or independent motion in my remaining hand which is my left hand due to an electrocution accident where the wrist was burned completely away and grafting done which scar tissued everything together. I have a gross grip only. But besides that, even tho I know it's not up to us adults to make our own minds up about if we need to wear seatbelts, I feel we should be able to, after all, this law is made and passed by the idiots that say...you must wear a seatbelt in an enclosed vehicle, but you can now ride a motorcycle in our state without a helmet. Figure that one out.

Being a a-hole isnt really the best way to get people to help you on these forums. On my 04 I just followed the instructions in the Owners Manual and that turned mine off.

Disabling the seat belt minder does not disable the initial reminder to fasten your seat belt. It just disables the periodic reminder that comes on at interval after the initial reminder shuts off. At least that is how my 02 works.

On my 89 I just disconnected the wire to the seat belt but the newer models have the air bag system sensors tied in with the seat belt and disconnectiong it is not good. You will get an air bag light and the air bags will may not function proberly.

BTW, I always use my seat belts. I feel naked without them.

On my 07, (when im offroading or just crusing on trails) I click the seatbelt in and as soon as it clicks i press the release button but it only works for that ignition cycle.

What do you tell the cops if they pull you over and give you a ticket for no seatbelt?

Maybe there is somethhing you can rig up to assist you in fastening and unfastening the seatbelt with you other hand. There has to be something out there for people with only one arm or something like it.

seatbelt minder

Pinecone, I have a slip from my doctor stating my disability and why I can't use the seatbelt. It's legal with the note. I tried different things but can't do it because my hand is basically just like a claw, no dexterity and no sensation except in my ring finger.

I don't know about the 07's but I know mine if i punch the button down it shuts up. my workvan (2000 Ford E-250) won't override, neither does my buddy Neil's 06 Escape. We've been trying to figure the Escape's over-ride since he got it last summer... still no luck

If you Flat out dont want to wear your belt or if thats the case at all. Cut the belt off the clicker. and Put the Clicker into its Buckle 24/7. that way it TECHNICLY IS buckled. and you dont have to worry about it. or you could always try tracing the Buckle to the floor where the wiring is and cut the wires and connect them to each other. or mount a switch to it effectivly completing the circuit. unless it is a Sensor thing. then use my first idea.

:Edit: Another idea, Rather than cutting it. use a Torq Bit to Unscrew the seatbelt from its mount over the shoulder and let it drop to the floor behind the seat. and THEN plug it in...... Problem solved. AND reversable.

I'm with the "get a latch from the junkyard" crowd and leave it plugged in.

That way anybody else driving it can still use the seatbelt, the cost is minimal and it doesn't alter your truck in any way. You know, the KISS method.

Welcome to Ranger Forums and sorry for our "rambunctious" replies to what is clearly a serious issue for you.

Glad you survived that accident, my brother from PA.

couldn't you just... cut the wires going to the buckle, and connect them...

bypassing the switch all together?

I use my seat beat every time i get in, but that oh so bothersome ding ding , so i followed the manual and now its just the light on the dash ,no audible at all. I would think if u follow the directions it should work to not have the ding ding. Mine has been like that going on four years now.
