New Vehicle Choices/Opinions
Well stopped by the dealer were I got the Ranger to look at what they had they are trying to get me into either an Escape or an Ex-Cab Ranger both Sonic Blue, power equip. group and autos (the only sticks are XL Rangers) but the Ranger is a 3.0L and the Escape is a 2.3L the Ranger is about $500 less after the discounts. Opinions guys ?

Why not buy something a few years older? There are plenty of nice vehicles out there, and it may be easier to find what you want. Even get a 4.0L 4x4. This is the newest vehicle I've ever owned, and it's still 11 years old. I don't care that someone else has already driven the vehicle... just means they eat all the depreciation that happens the second you drive it off the lot.

I have the 2000 4x4 4.0 with all the goodies. The OHV is a nice motor but they all got a ton of miles on em now. I would look for an 01 or 02 with the 4.0 That way you can have a vehicle with fewer miles and a newer front end. I bought the best I could afford at the time. Trust me, you will be much happier with a newer looking truck than the 98-00 front end.

Escapes are pretty nice if I NEEDED a small suv for a family or something i'd get one. If you dont have a family just stick with the truck

If money is tight, I would go with a used truck so that you don't take the depreciation hit on a new one. I'd go with a 2WD as well to use as little fuel as possible.

Well, I'm just hoping the reliability part holds up, b/c the power and mileage is lacking once you put on larger tires and offroad protection.
I will say with the stock tires, I did get a few trips in the 20-22mpg range. Those days are long gone. If it hits 16 (after calculating odometer reading for larger tires) it is a good thing.

Nothing wrong with the 3.0L mine was a 3.0L and I loved it!!
Im looking at new vehicles because banks are more likely to give me a loan on a new vehivle then on an used one.
The escape would be nice since I do kinda have a family. The Ranger ex-cab is enough space for now I guess.
Mainly I am looking for a 5-speed manual, blue, with seating for more than 2 people. 4.0L not important :P, 4x4 would be nice (but not necessary).
So Im leaning more towards the Ranger only cuz it is cheaper.
