Is this the next Ranger?

Ford unvieled this in Asia
http://www.blueovalforums.com/index.php?showtopic=98

And if it is, does that mean the end of American built Rangers?

Its different, kinda like it if they build a reg cab and x cab also, It would mean a full line up for the Ranger replacement, something thats been needed for some time

what experiences have you had that make you think the ridgeline is a pos?

after racing it in the baja 1000 with no problems other than flat tires... i am really impressed with it. it has alot of cool features and is built really well.

back on subject. i kinda like the new ranger... 4 doors would be veeeeeery nice, especialy tonight cause my brothers friend had to sit back there for an hour and a half drive

the thing i strongly dislike about the ridgeline is how they hype it to hell on how good it does off-roading. Every damn comercial i see it is in the dirt... After seeing one at the local costco i call complete bs... That thing has as much ground clearance as my EX's civic hybrid, and it looks like a little b*tch who fell out of the ugly tree (hitting every brach on the way down). Of course the looks are IMO and are not a fact, BUT i know that it has no off-road capabilities, unless heavly modifyed. Hell even then i would take a stock 4x4 ranger and still own it!

The unibody Ridgeline, as a "wheelers" truck, will have to prove itself much has the Cherokee has had to. The Cherokee's are still considered by some as "not trail worthy" because of the unibody issue.

It IS a different approach to make unibody work well offroad, but it obviously can be done. It remains to be seen if anyone does a good job making it happen on the Ridgeline.

Factory "specialty" vehicles used in offroad races do NOT prove the platforms worthiness for the "average" wheeler, to my mind. So the Baja thing is impressive, but not indicative of how good a platform it would be for your "normal" guy to build.

Let's just hope that truck's a concept, and will never make it to the assembly line.

The ridgeline has IRS.

XJ's as unibody's are not so bad, they are a small SUV.

But a fullsize truck? Thats supposed to have a decent towing capacity? I don't like the idea of towing a couple thousand pounds with the hitch bolted onto...the body...with my independant suspension supporting the weight...

It doesnt look as if its a unibody. You can see a line between the bed and the cab...

Also, i dont like it cause it looks like the raider too much. Honestly I dont really care about upcoming rangers. Im building mine up and it will rock every stock vehicle available off road...

also building something up for the baja is WAAAAAY friggin different than a stock vehicle. I wonder how much time and money was put into that baja ridgeline? Ill put money down that it was barely stock. Also one roll in the ridgeline and your gonna have to scrap the whole damn thing. no swapping bodies in that scenario...

its just a concept, it might have been made out of clay and looked pretty for the show, I would think that some of the design will see production, but not all of it, like all concepts.

^^^^^^agree

I don't think you will ever see an F-350 super duty with a unibody and 4 wheel independant suspension, unless its made out of pure titainium.
