do you really need it?

when i did the 06 swap on my truck i never bought a new heat shield bc the one from my 03 hood didn't fit. now im about to get my truck painted and want to know if it will fade my paint over time?

 

i took it off my 08 cause it looked like a contaminate trap, havent had any paint issues lol. i think the hoods are to far above anything on these trucks for it to be a problem

 

Wondering the same thing, I hate mine looks like a death trap.
