So, WTF? They think that the average buyer who buys a small pickup is actually looking for something like a fiesta, or mini suv? Its a ****ing -truck- for god sakes, why in gods name would someone bypass all the small cars and go for a truck? Probably because they are the most useful vehicles out today! Cheap, affordable, and you can actually do work with them! Imagine what your construction employer woudl say if you drove up in a brand new ****ing Fiesta on a job site ready for a long day of towing and work.. yeah, they woudl laugh at you. Not everyone wants to cough up 20k for a damn full size truck, the Range rhas had its niche for the longest time, and now everyone and there mom will be buying Taco's because its the smallest truck available.
Great job Ford, your ****ing up!
How about you put a new Ecoboost V6, 6 speed transmission, and an updated suspension into the ranger? Yeah, you would have a hell of alot more buyers in the small pickup industry, while pumping out over 32 MPG's - which is -way- more then any big truck can get, and your paying for a fraction of the cost of a big truck..
Ugh, this is stupid depressing.. sometime in my life I was wanting a nice brand new FX4 Ranger, doubt I'll ever do that - and I sure as heck dont need a fullsize truck now - where does that leave me? Buying a Taco? Ugh, yeah right.

I felt that Rangers ride like crap, don't get near the MPG they should with 4wd, can't really tow anything of substaintial size, have a cramped interior, too small of a bed, rattles galore, some interesting design flaws.
They are tough as nails, and their small size is good for trails, I guess.
I wish I would have purchased an F150, but life goes on. I'll just act like the Ranger is one until it dies.

Makes you think that we don't buy what we like anymore, we buy we're forced to buy now. I'm very happy with my 07 XLT, not to mention that it doesn't take up the room a base F-150 would in my garage. I'm sure they think "two trucks good, one truck better" its not a matter of size any more if the Ranger is close to the size of an F-150. I'm 6' 3" and believe that the rear tail gate height of an F-150 is way to high for most of us and if my wife has trouble backing our Ranger down our driveway....I'm guessing the F-150 sized Ranger replacement would be a sure.....NO FREAKIN WAY...for her.
Wasn't "FEISTA" used an another failed car by Ford in the early 80'S
Why not bring back the Tempo too!!!!! Or the Escort..they built and sold millions of them.

I didn’t understand either, I was going to buy a brand new Ranger two years ago when I purchased my ’03 but when I went in to build what “I” wanted the FORD Site kept telling me that you can’t get this without that or you have to buy something else to get what you want, it really $ucks that Ford thinks they can tell you what to buy, I guess a Taco will be in my future too.
So long FORD...

The difference is that the replacement is actually here now.
If for no other reason Ford should keep a stripper version of the Ranger around for use as fleet work trucks. They would still sell tons of them! Only offer the Ranger as an XL single cab long bed 4-cyl manual 2wd, in white. Just saying...

Verified: NO new ranger
Well after finding all kinds of info and blah blah about the new Ranger coming, it is definitely not. A good friend of mine is a FoMoCo engineer and he forwarded me the engineering department's email regarding the new Ranger NOT coming to the United States. The new V6 options in the F150 are meant to compensate for the lack of a smaller and more fuel efficient pickup. The new Ranger would be too much of a competitor with the F150 as far as size, so we will not get it. Bummer huh?

yeah just like the taco is too much of a competitor to the tundra, the frontier is too much of a competitor to the titan, and the colorado is too much of a competitor to the silvy. please.

well i agree with the part about only spendin a few more grand for a fullsize...i have looked at a few new rangers on the lot and the price difference isnt TOO much more than the ranger considering finance rates now-a-days, and the gas mileage is comporably a lil better than its big brother....what i dont agree with is the fact....yes they could have done a lil more to the ranger to make it more intising to the comsumer without having to make it any bigger than it already his..i agree they didnt give up on the ranger they gave up on the american market and consumers wants and needs...once again just proves what a lil market research would do for a auto manufacturer!!
