Power steering issue.

Hey guys, i am having an issue with my power steering on my truck. Today i flushed the power steering out, and filled with new, got all the air bled out, when i got done i parked the truck, and when i was parking it it started shuddering real bad. So i checked the fluid and it was low put some in, drove it around and it got better, now when i turn right real slow it shudders, but doesn't do it on left turns or so i haven't noticed. I just wanting to know what i did wrong, and how can i fix it, so if anybody has any suggestions let me know. Thanks.

PS when the truck i running the fluid level is fine, but when the truck is off the fluid level raises. Thanks.

The fluid levels fluctuate depending on temp and whether the truck is on or off. As with all fluids, fill them when the truck is off to the level indicated on the dipstick. For the power steering fluid it will drop down to the bottom of the filler neck when the truck is on.

Mine did that shudder thing for about 2 days after my fluid got low and I refilled it. Finally went away. Just drive it out. Maybe go to a parking lot and do some tight turns at low speeds. Don't turn the wheel back and forth without moving though. That will stress out the rack.

Sounds like the OP didn't get all the air out.

To purge air out of the p/s system, grab an empty parking lot. While creeping around (<15 MPH), spin the wheel lock to lock back and forth three to four times. Shut off the engine and top up the fluid if needed. Repeat this a couple times.

You're supposed to pull the ign coil fuse and crank the engine while turning the steering wheel stop to stop for 10-20 seconds at a time.
