Just wet myself, most beautiful 1st gen ive ever seen

i was on lunch driving home, and something caught my eye and made me drool...

sorry, i didnt have camera with me, so blackberry pics will have to do! This thing was amazing. looks just like it did in 198....whatever year it is. the dealer coulndt tell me anything about ti other than the guy wants SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS for the thing. it is MINT condition. im talking about interior and everything.

DOWN FALL: the thing has a freakin 350 Chevy in it. i drooped if you know what i mean. all was fine until he said "C-H-E-V-Y" , i hate chevy and especially in a ranger. he could at least give it some dignity and put a 351W or 351C in it!

I like it except for the color. You'll hate me, I am probably putting my 400 hp LT1 in an 86 Ranger ext cab That I found with a mint body. I just want to know if I can slip an 98+ 4x2 with coil frame under it so I can make it handle like I want too. Sorry, But I want 400 HP with out having to get an un streetable cam. Plus a six speed manual and still get good enough gas mileage to actually drive it anywhere. That leaves ford engines out! I'd do an LQ4 but I have the LT1 and it has too much into it and now it just needs to be reassembled. But man I miss my 88 Ranger! I guess you never get over your first vehicle.

I would get way to crap for driving that with a chevy engine in it. But that is one clean 1st gen ranger. I would take the bed rails off for sure.

Who cares, If you get crap, That truck is nice and depending on whats under the hood (chevy 350 could mean awesomness all the way down to a 140 HP crap from the early 80's) I would rock it. Do you know how hard it is to find a ranger older than about 97 that is that clean? I have been looking for six months for a 86-88 without any rust issues.

I don't like the color or the roll pan, but it has a mean stance to it. and it is clean, and I am sick of only seeing Beat up dusted First gens. That is why I like it.

Looks to be in great shape for a Gen 1.
However, until the 01 style came around, I would have never owned a Ranger. I never liked the small boxy look of them.

I like it, even with a Chevy motor. I wouldn't mind putting a 355 in my '01. Shoot look at Tim's trucks, all three of them.

I'd buy it only without the engine. A 351W belongs in there. What a shame.
