So I ordered these kickpanels for my JL components. They improve the soundstage in the ranger immensly. Problem is......I have no room to set my E. brake. I really love the way these things sound but is there a way to solve my brake problem?








This is the farthest it will go. The truck still moves in idle!






Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

 

just put your truck in 1st gear and don't park on an incline. if you have to have your e brake then your gonna have to get rid of those.

 

Haha. I really need to include info on my truck. It's an automatic.

 

If its an automatic, why are you overly concerned about it?

 

sounds like you are S.O.L.

Only thing I can suggest is to just take the driver's side out and replace it with the original kick panel.

Your trans has a brake so you don't even need parking brake at all.

 

make your own kicks so they don't interfere

 

I would take and remold the drivers side kickpanel into the door panel, maybe even do both.

 

Sorry but the trans is not really a brake. Any smart person uses the e brake all the time when parking regardless of what trans you have or where you are parking.

You have to bend the arm so you can use it again.

 

yeah mines automatic and I always use the e brake when on an incline. It is really hard on ur transmission getting out of park when on a hill.

 

That's a VERY common issue with kick panel speakers. Shoulda known that before installing.

Have you tried bending the pedal arm towards the passesnger side to clear the speaker?

 

Bend it, shorten it or shim it? Should be able to get it to work with a custom work :)

You don't have to use it when parking always, only when you are parked on inclines sometimes. The parking prawl will still hold you just fine, but its better to use your ebrake. Just make sure that you press the ebrake when you are still in drive with your foot on the brake, then put it in park. If not then the prawl is still gonna be holding the truck.

 

parking brakes are overrated....i havn't had one since November.

 

I use it in any vehicle that I drive. Its not like it requires a long procedure to use. I prefer to be a bit safer.

 

Dont know what skills you have. You could always cut and reweld it just take 1/2" out of it to shorten it up
