Check my Checklist Please? (Balljoints)
I am FINALLY going to replace/fix my upper balljoints. They've been shot since September of 2006, haha..
Anyways.. can you all check my checklist? I want to make sure I got everything before I order it. I am also going to replace the lower ball joints.:
(I am going to replace the upper with the Moog ones) My truck is a 2004 Ranger EDGE
1. (1) MOOG K8708T DS one-piece UCA
2. (1) MOOG K80068 PS one-piece UCA
3. (2) MOOG K8695T lower ball joints.
4. Alignment.. but that's a given
Note: Do I need to buy.. balljoint grease? What type? Brand?
Anything else I should replace? Suggestions? Different brands perhaps? I've read about MOOG's... and they seem to be the way to go.
Thanks!

Everything is going well. I've actually been driving the truck for the last few months. I've also updated a few things on it. I still have the Lexus, driving it until the truck is fixed.
Someone confirm for me please!

you will need to grease them after the install... any grease gun will work and i used some vavoline stuff on mine... you should also get the alignment cams and install those while you have the UCA out... a little trick to help with the installation of the lower ball joints is to put the new ones in the freezer overnight before you put them... they go in much easier

i just recently replaced mine and the lower ones were easy but the lower ones were a pain b/c i have the factory control arms that you can press the ball joint out and we worked on it from 9 to 2:30 sat and like 30 mins sunday. and that was with a press...but we are going to pick my truck up at the alignment shop as soon as my dad gets off

You can buy alignment cams at CarQuest if you have one around you P/N CCH K80065 $50.00 per side. Napa should also have them. They will allow your truck to be aligned because the factory does not install adjustable cams, they just put in square blocks that are not adjustable. You will still have to take it to a shop to have it aligned.

Your also going to want to do your wheel bearings (they are mildly inexpensive, 10 dollars or so) and seal. Also, wouldn't be a bad idea to do your tie rods, they are soooo easy.
Just rent a good ball joint press, you don't need to freeze them. Also don't forget...a BIG hammer to get the spindle off. Just don't pound it on the top where the hole is, pound on the side, straight down, so you don't damage any of the holes. And put a piece of wood on top of the upper when you pound it back in so that you don't mess is up.
I just did kevooo's truck, and theres some hard parts to it if you haven't done it, I'm not going to lie. But there is a LOT of tricks to it.
When you torque the wheel bearings back down, spin the rotor while you do it so it "seats"

Those #'s are correct, I used all the same parts you did.....remember.....TWO lower joints. Just don't want you to forget. lol.
ROCKAUTOFTW! I priced out the same components from local auto parts stores......grand total was about $450! $150 an arm, $70 a lower joint.
Regular old grease from a grease gun works just fine.
Sometimes....i really hate you 2wd edge guys. $10 wheel bearings.....multiply that by about 12 and that's how much mine cost!

thanks for all the advice. now here's checklist #2... let me know if it's right please?
1. (2) Tie Rods, Outer: MOOG Part# ES3461
2. (1) Alignment Cam Kit: MOOG Part# K80065 (Caster Camber Cam Bolt Kit)
Note: Do I need two of these? or just one kit?
Front Suspension; 2WD; Problem Solver; adjustment range from -1-5/8 to +1-5/8 Deg.
3. Wheel Bearings ... Which ones do I need?
Outers? BCA/NATIONAL Part # A2
Inners? BCA/NATIONAL Part # A5
And I'm assuming I need two of those? or in the case I need both, then two of each?
HELP!
