Oil Drain Plug May Be Stripping - 1998 2.5 4Cyl Eng - PLEASE HELP !
Hello
I have a 1998 Ranger with a 2.5L 4cylinder engine.
The drain plug is starting to get tight when coming out and tight when going in. It may possibly be starting to strip.
Does anyone know of a fix for this without pulling the oil pan down ?
Possibly a Piggy Back Plug or something else that I could just leave in there ? Maybe a quick disconnect with hose assembly that is the "correct size" ???????
I believe size is 12mm - 1.75
I tried to find something at my local auto parts store that would fit and I could not find a piggy back plug or anything with the correct required size.
If you know of something, please send me a link so I could purchase it online.
Thanks so much. I'm all stressed out over this.

Years ago my wife had a '73 Gran Torino that had a stripped drain plug. I put in a drain plug that was a little bit larger, and was self-tapping, and went in permanently. It then had a smaller pipe plug in the center that you removed to drain the oil. Haven't seen them in years, though. Good luck.
