cherrybomb compared to no muffler

I have a cherrybomb glasspack and it looks like it's about to fall off. Would there be any difference if I just welded a straight pipe where it goes instead of putting a new muffler on (milage/performance wise)? I want to wait till I have enough money for a dual magnaflow system, so I don't want to e buying a new muffler so I can rip it out and junk it in a few weeks

I had a straight pipe on my '97, it split into dauls coming out the back. Sounded OK, kinda loud if you got into the gas hard. To me it hurt gas mileage and power slightly.

Glasspacks sound blah on V-6 engines. Get that Magnaflow!

I had a strait pipe on my 93 4.0 and loved it. I also had a glass pack on it, too. So if its anything like mine was, there wasnt much diffirence (from what I noticed). Try it, you can always go back, and since your waiting anyways, just do it. You may like it. Atleast it will sound fast and powerful

well, I don't really want to hurt gas milage any more than what it is right now... My truck is the equivalent to running a raised truck with huge mudders hauling a trailer. I don't know what's up, but I really got to start doing something (magnaflows, new injectors, spark plugs... etc)

Well going from a Glass pack to a strait pipe (assuming its the strait-thru type glass pack I had) is going to change things minimally. I dont think you will notice the change. And like you say, you are doing something diffirent soon anyways. If its that bad, you could just cut out a section of the pipe and clamp in the cherry bomb. Thats how I went from strait pipe to glass pack. I liked it better straight piped, throatier.
